Some exciting weeks behind us:
๐ฌwe moved into new lab space aka playground for lots of #OxidesMeetBio & #biocorrosion fun @Empa_CH
๐ฉโ๐ซfinished my 1st term of lecturing @ETH_en - what a (*fun, challenging+interesting) privilege to teach these brilliant students at my Alma Mater.
#SH2024: What changes are you hoping for when it comes to sexual harassment? Watch the video to see how others answer this question. The SNSF supports the Sexual Harassment Awareness Day organized by Swiss universities.
Big thank you to @Empa_CH and @psich_en for this opportunity and support, and especially Melina Spycher, Catherine Hirt, and colleagues from the Diversity team for your efforts! It really was a great experience.
This week, we celebrated women with leadership ambitions in the ETH Domain National Labs with the closing event of the 1-year 'fem-LEAD' program.
Best of luck to all these incredible women - I have no doubt (and cannot wait!) that you are going to shape the research landscape๐
Bravo๐ and congratulations to this year's fellows of the LโOrรฉal UNESCO For Women in Science Awards! Especially HUGE CONGRATS to @sarabkeller and former colleague @LiyunMa323 from Imperial College London in the Engineering category - super well done! Happy to see you thrive๐
Incredibly honored to receive the 2024 @lorealuki @UNESCOUK#ForWomenInScience Engineering award and to share the stage with so many outstanding scientists & engineers. To quote the program motto: the world needs science & science needs women!!
A major milestone for researchers in Switzerland: this spring, they can participate again in an ERC call after an almost three-year hiatus. Being involved in #HorizonEurope, the largest research programme worldwide, is key for Swiss research.
Celebrating the achievements and resiliance of women in science ๐ Keep on going - representation matters!
Empower, encourage, motivate, thrive!

๐ฃ Hot off the press: Transitional arrangements will allow the ERC to begin accepting applications from researchers based in ๐จ๐ญSwitzerland once again, as from the calls under the ERCโs 2024 Work Programme.

Please share. I have a fully funded 3-year PhD studentship in my new lab @Chemistry_QMUL focussing on generating polymer-based artificial cells. They have importance in therapy, biotechnology, and producing approximations to understand biological phenomena https://t.co/RVcxDZKk7l
@davblei 1. Try your best-> science discoveries are not always in our hands = input&output are not linear but as long as you give your best, there is no regret
2. Observe & document carefully
3. Be critical (to own data & lit)
4. Be a teamplayer
5. Communicate your needs

Toxic workplaces are the main reason women leave academic jobs. Women feel driven out by problems with workplace culture more often than by lack of workโlife balance. #AcademicChatter What do you think?
