No-show Carney in the House. Coyne "And when the most powerful person in the country feels it's beneath them to show up, it sends really bad signals, and it weakens one of the last lines of accountability we've got."
Again, they could have said something earlier... but chose not to do so
Frustration with floor crossing is fair, but the premise here is off. In Canada, voters choose a local MP, not a party slate or a prime minister. MPs aren’t “owned” by their party, they’re elected to exercise judgment on behalf of their constituents. The accountability mechanism is still intact: voters can decide if that MP deserves to be re-elected.
This floor crossing BS is out of control. If MPs in this country can just change parties whenever they want, then voters truly have no control over who becomes prime minister and runs our government. The whole Canadian system is based on the premise that parties MATTER.

@jkenney@Prominent_Bryan Your own country recognizes Palestine as a State, along with 81% of UN members. You may not like it, but those are the facts. Get over it.
@CanadianPolling With more and more polls like this, and progressively losing Alberta as a stronghold, how much longer can Poilievre realistically stay on as leader?
I have seen this picture cross my feed many times, and every single time it pulls me up short. His little blue lunchbox, the sneakers that are probably a tad too big because he would grow into them, the straps for his glasses so that he didn’t lose them, his checkered shirt that his little hands might have stumbled over in trying to make sure he got every button right, or perhaps his mother bent down to help him with; his mother who he waves goodbye to, who he loved and who loved him so deeply.
@Dfildebrandt@CanadianPolling@338Canada A pretty sizable sample for a provincial poll, puts weight behind those numbers. Just piling on a really bad week for the CPC.
@ZontarAlt@iamrobinskies You’re referencing the Mainstreet poll. This isn’t that poll. This is the most recent Abacus poll, from the same pollster Robin cited. He had to rely on older data because the latest results contradict his narrative. Nice try though, next.
@JJ_McCullough Watch the speech again. He literally says, “Friends, it’s time for companies and countries to take their signs down.” Clearly, he’s talking about nations and institutions, not ordinary people.
Grateful for the opportunity to put an indoor court in Scarborough,
