One of the quietest guys in my office resigned last month.
Nobody really noticed him like that. He doesn't wear expensive clothes, hardly gives his opinions, and doesn't even post anything on social media.
While others would post about their accomplishments on LinkedIn, this guy doesn't care about that. On few occasions he talked, he'd just say:
“Forget LinkedIn jor.”
People mostly saw him as one struggling guy trying to survive Lagos. Others even think he's unserious with his life by being quiet and not making new connections.
On his last day, our manager jokingly asked him:
“So where you dey go now? Hope say no be another small company.”
That was when we found out he was relocating to Canada.
A fully sponsored job, with a far better salary than almost everybody there. Accommodation was also already sorted.
The silence in the office that day was something else.
You see...
People don't understand that not everybody advertises their life while building it. And the fact that someone is silent or not flashy doesn't mean they're not progressing.

Collection of machine learning and data science interview questions
Today I'm having a feedback meeting. 💔😌
I just got rejected for a global design role after 3 interview stages.
My second interview was with a Head of Design with 25 years of experience. I learned a lot and was shocked to even make it past that stage.
Then I got invited to the case study phase with 2 Lead Designers.
I was shocked again that I made it through. I made it past a giant with 25 yes exp.
I prepared 10-page slides for each stage.
I presented my case study.
They were friendly, honest, and taught me what it really means to think like a senior.
Today I’m meeting the recruiter to understand why I didn’t make it to the final step.
I won’t lie, I’m heartbroken.
This role would’ve had me working with teams from Germany, South Africa, the UK, Ireland, and Austria… with my own UX researcher, PM, and manager.
I was expectant.
I was ready.
But I’m still grateful.
I know I’m close to my “yes.”
Close to the right global team.
Close to the culture and opportunity I want.
Maybe not this year.
Maybe next year.
But it’s coming.
The best part of 'UNSUNG' is that it was handled by the marketing folks on @theFCshow_ team (led by @Tega_Gabriel). I only came in towards the end to finetune stuff. Getting the FC team to a place where I don't have to do everything myself anymore is such a big deal for me.
During the @Bcomeadesigner 7.0 cohort classes, @egbokavictory_ said something about simplicity in design
And I've been applying that to every design I create and the results have been amazing.
His comment on the design made me smile 😊
This is Benneth, the first Nollywood film maker that gave me a chance to work with him as project designer last year.
The work I did contributed massively to the success of the series that he recommended me to 3 other film makers in 2023, the year my growth started.
This year he got invited to YouTube for African Film Makers.
I was so happy for him.
How we met is me reaching out to him about the designs he was promoting his film with, then I showed him how we could make it better and the impact it could have on the project.
I was convincing and he hired me asap.
The series is still running on YT now, doing numbers.
What I’m saying is—
If clients aren’t coming, go to them.
Don’t go for the big one, go for the growing ones. You’re more likely to get a chance to prove yourself with them.
Then referrals will surely come if you do great work.
And referrals means only one thing—
You’re spreading.
Thanks, Figma!
Yes! I did it! I bought an apartment — myself! 💃
This is something I’ve been busy with the last few months.
My own safe space, my own home in a city I like - was my childhood dream. And now it came true!
@egbokavictory_ Absolute truth man.
Most people (designers inclusive) are negotiating their way into more crisis rather than out of it due to not acknowledging what they bring to the table.
Their focus is mostly on satisfying the clients and getting paid alone which most times don't end well
