A @EnelClientesBR é enfurecedora.
Passou ontem, nada. Nem sinal de luz. Vou passar o feriado sem luz
Some of the replies and QTs show, Xbox really did a fantastic job with their retro BC. Communication wise at least. They've framed it so perfectly that people completely neglect the fact, that it doesn't work offline. They also neglect that it didn't bring over the entire catalogue. They ignore that they axed the program and even delisted some of the games. And while people usually mention licensing issues at this point, they also ignore that MS didn't even port over all games they DO own.
Don't get us wrong. Being able to play these games today is a good thing. But acting like they are the messiah of game preservation while holding games hostage behind online requirements is not. Preservation is also always about access. Mandatory downloads and mandatory online accounts are a hurdle in that regard.
And before the whataboutism starts again, yes, this is exactly why we call out PlayStation for their online activation of the detachable disc drive. That's why we look critical at Nintendos battle against emulation. The fight for preservation has many fronts. And the end goal should always be a legal option with eternal public access. But people need to push for change instead of eating up corporate speak and spreading quitter mentality like "that's the future, deal with it".
