50,000+ Ukrainian refugees in Moldova received the 1st payment of cash assistance. More refugees are being enrolled. Cash assistance empowers refugees to meet their basic needs & boosts markets

In Palanca, on the Moldova, Ukraine border, hundreds of refugees continue to arrive each day. Yesterday we met frightened families desperately seeking safety.

UNHCR is there alongside partners providing emergency support but without peace millions more will suffer.

5 million people have now fled Ukraine.

They have left behind their homes and families. Many would do anything, and some even risk going back, to see their loved ones.

But every new attack shatters their hopes. Only an end to the war can pave the way for rebuilding their lives.
