Forty years ago today, Sheffield City Council organised a Marx Memorial Lecture to remember the life and works of the great philosopher on the anniversary of his death.
We have now obtained a digitised copy of the 1983 lecture, delivered by the incredible Stuart Hall.
Marx Memorial Lectures were one facet of a South Yorkshire's approach to resist Thatcherism and build a municipal socialist alternative.

Truly inspiring event watching this 1983 Stuart Hall lecture last night. Great initiative from local activists @JoeBrindle_ and @min_esh to revive the archive footage. Lots of practical and theoretical food for thought.
If you went to know any more about this screening being shown tomorrow, I wrote a piece on this for @Sheffield_Wire just last week.
Should be a great event down at @UnionStCowork!
