MESSAGE BY H.E. DR. NETUMBO NANDI-NDAITWAH, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA, ON THE PASSING OF HONOURABLE JAMES UNOMASA UERIKUA
Fellow Namibians,
It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I have learned of the tragic passing of Honourable James Unomasa Uerikua, SWAPO Member of Parliament in the National Assembly, following a motor vehicle crash.
I have further been informed, with deep anguish, that his son has also succumbed to injuries sustained in the same incident. This heartbreaking development deepens our collective grief and compounds the pain of this tragic loss.
On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Namibia, I extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, his comrades in SWAPO, colleagues in the National Assembly, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside him. This is a painful loss not only to his family and the SWAPO Party, but to the nation at large.
Honourable Uerikua was a young and promising leader, a brilliant mind, and a very well spoken voice in our national discourse. At a time when our country faces complex challenges and requires the energy, clarity, and commitment of its finest sons and daughters, we have lost a bright light far too soon. His presence in the National Assembly reflected both intellect and purpose, and his contribution to the strengthening of our democracy will be remembered with deep respect.
I am also deeply mindful that others were injured in this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones during this difficult time. We wish them strength, comfort, and a full and speedy recovery, and assure them of our solidarity as they receive the care and support they need.
This tragic incident reminds us, once again, of the fragility of life and the urgent responsibility we all share to promote road safety. I urge all Namibians to exercise caution and responsibility on our roads, so that we may prevent such devastating losses.
During this time of grief, we stand in solidarity with the bereaved family, the SWAPO Party, and all those mourning this untimely passing. May they find strength and comfort in the support of the nation.
May the souls of Honourable James Unomasa Uerikua and his son rest in eternal peace.
Some men are very disgraceful tbh. How can you embarrass someone like this because of 12k??? I feel so sorry for this lady. See the kind of humiliation she went through because she chose to hang out with a useless man. Smh
