A new order from Donald Trump informs half a dozen UC Schools to stop Internship programs for foreigners on F-1 Visas (Student Visas)

This is great news for American citizens, more jobs will be available

What’s happening is many foreign students have only been enrolling in school to essentially act as a work permit. School isn’t their focus but they’ve been abusing this program as a loophole to enroll in school but really be working and living their lives

The longstanding rule with the internship programs is that it has to be part of the actual academic program, it’s not just “I found a job, so enroll me in an internship class so I can work legally.”

- The Trump administration says too many schools were treating CPT internship program like a work permit
- Student gets an internship
- The student signs up for a credit course or independent study
- The school then rubber-stamps it
- ICE calls that unauthorized employment dressed up as schoolwork
