Despite having great retention of pupils in post 16 provision, the local authority won't recognise this and only want GCSE in English and Maths at 4/5 from kids in rural poverty let down by every service but ours...I'm sad
Any PRUs happy to share with me details of their GCSE grades for the last 5 years in English? Out of the blue today I'm told we need our pupils to get grade 4/5 - despite their baselines on arrival, despite covid and despite no exams this year because we aren't as good as others?
Ofsted has been deluged with 5,000 emails praising schools since @GavinWilliamson told parents to contact the watchdog with complaints

In case you didn’t know - parents from lower income households can still look after their children, they can value education, they can provide a suitable place to learn. Not all jobs are high paid. Mine raised 4 kids on 1 income; they valued education, they made sure we did. 1/2
Special schools & Alternative provision are also schools @SadiqKhan - please remember that when you state “It is right that all schools in London are treated the same”. This compounds how marginalised our population can feel.
@educationgovuk Cheers then - I will expect my PPE when I arrive on Monday then? With a vulnerable son to bring covid home to at the end of the day because children are no longer allowed to shield either - thanks 👍
All London primaries now online (except key worker/vulnerable) until 18th Jan earliest.
Astounding last minute decisions from the DfE
But they need another – for all primaries nationwide.
Sage say so. The Imperial College paper today says so. #ProtectCommunities#MakeSchoolsSafe
@prusapuk Thank you. I think we all need to understand how it’s not safe for m/s secondary schools to open but it’s fine for secondary PRUs, where students find it very difficult to socially distance and may present challenging behaviours that require physical interventions from staff.
@JoCLawrence @piersmorgan PRUsAP is the largest network for PRU and AP, sadly our voices have been left behind. I am more than happy to speak about this, and what this means for our sector and children returning to school. #thisisAP
