Democratic Candidate for CT's 5th Congressional. Lifelong district resident. Former Simsbury First Selectman. Director, Capitol Region Education Council
My last stop on the #MaryOnTheMove tour was also my first stop in public service 25 years ago. Local elected office wasn't easy or glamorous, but it was the best boot camp for learning how laws impact lives and how good leaders get things done.

I’m really proud of how we've used bike paths to better connect towns and neighbors. It’s not about bikes, it’s about people. Here in Avon, physical activity and the outdoors are helping unite this district, which is exactly what I want to do in Congress. #AvonCT#MaryOnTheMove
We also stopped at the Plainville Community Food Pantry with more donations. SNAP serves 41,000 households in the 5th CD, and in Congress, I’ll oppose any measures to cut SNAP benefits or create new barriers to free and reduced lunches in schools.

In June, after visiting the New Britain Food & Resource Center with State Rep. Bobby Sanchez & Alderwoman Iris Sanchez, I asked my team to collect donations for the NBFRC. Yesterday, we made good on our word. No one in CT should ever go hungry. #NewBritainCT#MaryOnTheMove
Right here at 131 Pleasant Street in New Britain is where I became a Democrat at age 4. When we lost my father, the government stepped in to make sure my family not only survived, but thrived. Every family should have the opportunities I was given. #NewBritainCT#MaryOnTheMove
Instead of building border walls, why don’t we build roads, bridges, and train stations to better connect communities here in CT. Meriden is a great example of local, state, and federal transit projects transforming communities. #MeridenCT#MaryOnTheMove
Here in Meriden, the Unitarian Universal Church is providing sanctuary to an immigrant couple who have been CT residents for years. We need to reform our immigration system by establishing pathways to citizenship and helping immigrant communities thrive. #MeridenCT#MaryOnTheMove
At Cheshire HS, students get an excellent education, with almost half taking AP classes. But that’s not enough. We need great schools everywhere. As First Selectman, I fought to make sure every kid in CT gets the education and opportunity they deserve. #CheshireCT#MaryOnTheMove
Started yesterday morning off right with some breakfast at Rick’s Nutmeg Grill in Torrington. Our campaign has always been about the people of Main Street, not Wall Street. We are a local campaign, supported by local donors—85% from within the state! #TorringtonCT#MaryOnTheMove
Found a Pleasant Street in Wolcott on Sunday and I added it to my list: the one I grew up on in New Britain and the one we found in New Milford! #WolcottCT#MaryOnTheMove
We got in the zone in Watertown. Be assured, I will fight any attempts by the Trump Administration to roll back EPA emissions standards. Clean air, clean water—these things matter to the 5th District. #WatertownCT#MaryOnTheMove
A little kidding around in Middlebury, but access to childcare, universal pre-k, and afterschool programs is no joking matter. These types of programs set children (and parents) up for success. #MiddleburyCT#MaryOnTheMove
#TeamMary breaks for open spaces. Popped in at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust and Van Vleck Sanctuary in Woodbury, which focuses on environmental education, and on the acquisition, conservation, and stewardship of open space. #WoodburyCT#MaryOnTheMove
We stopped in the heart of Bethel to pay tribute to the "Spirit of the American Doughboy" statue, dedicated 90 years ago this year in honor of the town's war veterans. Our veterans deserve the benefits and healthcare they've earned. #BethelCT#MaryOnTheMove
Hats off to Hat City! Danbury, I'm onboard with transit-oriented development that transforms communities and local economies. And there's nothing that would prevent me, even rain, from standing up for women's health and standing by Planned Parenthood. #DanburyCT#MaryOnTheMove
