It's been a very exciting week in @sd54BV. We celebrated @NCWeek and presented in elementary school classrooms, the high school and shared information with educators. We reached 100s of students and the message was clear: Students wanted to learn even MORE about Neurodiversity.

Working toward equity is not about understanding student needs by finding deficits, rationalizing what they can’t do and lowering expectations. It’s work to understand students unique gifts/talents and entry points so we can RAISE EXPECTATIONS.
What guides our efforts in #SelfReg is not the goal of rendering students more manageable, but rather the goal of enhancing their well-being and their capacity to learn and grow in all five of the Self-Reg domains.
When schools attempt to shift to standards-based grading without also intentionally changing their curriculum and pacing to be more flexible, they miss out on the majority of the value that SBG can offer, and it opens up the potential for SBG to actually do more harm than good.
