I keep coming back to this line from The Psychology of Money:
"The ability to do what you want, when you want, with who you want, for as long as you want, is priceless. It is the highest dividend money pays."
I grew up in an environment like this. It is beyond 2000. It is opportunity to get a free ride and go to ‘town’ (ghetto is considered a no go area). It is opportunity let your hair down, have fun etc!
For this election, match their 2000 with your own!
Do not allow them place you on sanctimonious thrones!
If bread is the language people understand, give them bread! For those interested in your policies, give them policy documents
There’s nothing wrong with this imo. It’s very important you marry whose sect, morals and values align with yours. It spares the marriage a lot of disagreements and misunderstandings.
@SVrolok He caused it sha. I don’t even understand why one would try to marry someone that doesn’t even consider them a Muslim tbh. To each their own I guess
Having money is not the only way to empower yourself as a woman. Have principles and beliefs you standby. Be disciplined. Be a talk and do woman. You can be struggling and still stand your ground ASF. Be wise.
The committee that was set up to investigate the gruesome murder of 37 kids in Niger state and given 2 weeks to submit their report was set up a month ago. The silence isn't even loud enough. People have forgotten.
It seems committees in Nigeria serve no purpose but to put out the fire of justice.
Prolonged courtship has never sat well with me, and I wouldn't wish it on any man or woman, especially women.
To me, any courtship that exists beyond six months without a clear direction is absolute bullshit. There must either be an established path towards commitment or an honest conversation that clearly defines what both parties want. Nobody should have to invest their time, emotions, and energy in a relationship that has no clear destination for 7 seven years.
One claimed case of Ebola in Abuja, and Tinubu hurriedly approves N10 billion in emergency funding within 24 hours. 😂
Meanwhile, WHO figures published on March 31, 2026, show Nigeria recorded 458,534 reported TB cases in 2025.
Yet, the same government reportedly allocated a paltry N25 million to the Health Ministry for the entire year.
N10 billion for one Ebola case.
N25 million for a year of healthcare.
Some thieves use guns to rob and kill.
Others use just their pens. 🥲
Saying this in public without any repercussions or investigation by the cataract-afflicted eagle is one of the reasons why this country may never make it
I attended a talk session between IT guys in Lagos and Kano.
I now fully understand why Lagos boys go international while ours remain in rimin kebe layin famfo.
Dear @officialABAT Today marks 159 days since the abduction of schoolchildren in Mussa and 113 days since students were abducted in Lassa, both in Askira/Uba LGA of Borno State.
How long must these families continue to suffer? How long must these children remain forgotten?
#bringbornochildrenhome
They call the women who let them commit adultery matan rufin asiri.
As a Muslim, one should be more concerned about one’s akhirah, I reckon.
You are better off with a woman who keeps you on your toes when it comes to your religion than with one who lets you stray.
I made this list a few months ago because my family can be quite picky with food 😂 so I needed different ideas to work with. Thought I’d share in case it helps you too!
This post made me realize that many of you don't even know what presumptive tax means.
Permit me to educate you.
First of all by law, everyone is required to file taxes by the 31st of March 2027.
That's approximately 2 months after the election, in case you haven't noticed.
Whether you are employed or unemployed, NRS no send your papa. You must file.
What happens if you don't file?
The Nigeria Tax Administration Act provides for:
- ₦100,000 administrative penalty in the first month of failure.
- ₦50,000 for each subsequent month the failure continues.
So what is Presumptive tax?
Presumptive tax establish a simplified tax framework for individuals and informal sector businesses whose income cannot be reliably calculated due to a lack of accounting records.
Now Imagine being a POS operator in Nigeria. Your personal bank account records ₦100 MILLION in transactions in one year. Then the taxman comes asking questions.
You are not a big businessman. You operate a POS stand, help people withdraw and transfer money, and earn commissions on transactions.
But because you use your personal bank account to run the business, ₦100 million has passed through that account in a year.
But if you cannot produce proper records showing what you earned, the tax authority may assess your business using the presumptive tax rules.
Here is where things get serious.
Under the 2026 regulations, qualifying businesses whose income cannot be reliably determined may face a presumptive tax of 1% of actual or estimated turnover or revenue.
If the tax authority lawfully determines that your taxable turnover was ₦100 million, 1% would be ₦1 million in tax.
For those that file taxes, if NRS looks at what you paid for taxes and decides it's too small, the law gives the tax authority to make an additional assessment if it determines that you were assessed below the amount properly payable. They can use presumptive tax to bill you more.
So they will send you additional amount to pay based on their own assessment.
If the tax debt becomes due and remains unpaid, the law also empowers the relevant tax authority, under specified conditions, to take that money from your bank, or from your business partner or your supplier or anyone that is doing business with you.
The scariest part is that they can do this without first obtaining a Court order.
Now ask yourself have you received clear, practical education on these rules before enforcement begins?
Government wants compliance, but compliance requires understandable rules, fair assessments, accessible filing and a genuine opportunity to challenge mistakes.
People should not have to discover their tax obligations through a penalty notice.
Elections have consequences.
You go vote abi you no go vote?
