Mzungu Pastor left empty handed years after Court awards damages for wrongful arrest in Kenya
Irish pastor Rory Bracken has shared his painful experience in Kenya, describing it as both traumatic and unjust.
He said his troubles began in February 2019 when he was arrested in Kisumu for allegedly breaching visa rules.
Although he was granted bail of KSh 500,000, later reduced to KSh 50,000, he still spent 23 days in Kodiaga Prison before his family managed to raise the money.
The court eventually ruled in his favour, declaring that his stay in Kenya had been lawful and that his arrest was an act of malicious prosecution.
He was awarded KSh 400,000 in damages plus legal fees, bringing the total to KSh 560,000.
More than four years later, Bracken says he has not received any of the money.
He argues the amount was already too little to cover the damage he suffered, including six months of hotel and restaurant expenses while his passport was withheld.
He also expressed deep disappointment with Kenyan religious leaders, claiming no local pastor, including the one who had invited him to the country, came to support him during his trial.
Bracken further accused some of the lawyers he hired of abandoning him without completing their work.
He insists that his motivation is not bitterness but a desire to speak the truth and carry out what he calls a divine assignment.
He warns that Kenya risks moral and spiritual decay if corruption, tribalism, and misconduct within churches are not addressed.
His story has sparked conversations, with many questioning how a court judgment could go unenforced for years.
Others are calling for stronger legal systems to protect both foreigners and citizens from similar experiences, highlighting the need for reforms in how justice is delivered and upheld in the country.
I said it! I told you Ruto intentionally sabotaged Raila at AU
Then instead of accepting Facts, they're busy sponsoring anti Kikuyu rhetoric
Only cheap minded Luos will fall for that script. Tutatumiwa kama tissue hadi lini?!!
