Remember the rush to swap old thousand-shilling notes?
30 September 2019 was the last day the old KSh1,000 notes were valid. @CBKKenya said 7.4 million of 217 million notes never came back, leaving KSh7.39 billion worthless.

@MwangiHub If the estimated losses of nearly $6 billion a year to corruption are accurate, three corruption-free years could fund a refinery owned by us, the people and without borrowing. Angalia hizo estimates, Kenya pesa iko, shida ni mikono inaipitia.

@MwangiHub Wadau, take it easy kwa Space.. 😆 Smile, kula apple, check on a friend. Thank God uko na bundles za kushare thoughts. Hatutamaliza shida za Kenya leo. Msikasirike mpaka mnasahau kesho bado taxes zinakungoja.
People are entitled to different political, religious and other views. Lakini hii serikali ina-underperform. Na report card haiandikwi na feelings, hata mtu akiwa diehard. Na Dangote amekuja kufanya biashara, sio harambee. Faida yake ndio agenda, kazi yetu tuhakikishe we agree and follow blindly. 😂
@mcpipita Dangote’s planned Lamu refinery: $16bn. Kenya’s estimated annual corruption losses, according to EACC’s chair: over $7.7bn. Curbing roughly two years of that leakage equals Kenya meeting the refinery’s cost.

@mcpipita Dangote’s investment deserves scrutiny too. Bringing jobs doesn’t exempt an investor from questions about competition, public subsidies or the terms of the deal. He has his share of controversies from prior business dealings pia.
@mcpipita Lakini kama mpaka tunaulizwa in public kama tunataka our drunk dad asucceed, si amefail tayari? 😂 Hii ni results announcement, si opinion poll.
I agree. We keep acting as if basic government functions are achievements. They're not. Fighting corruption, providing quality education, and delivering healthcare are the bare minimum any government is elected to do.
SHA replaced NHIF and officially went live on 1 October 2024, and in two days it marks two years of operation. The question is simple: can Kenyans honestly say healthcare is significantly better today than it was before SHA? If the answer is no, then slogans and statistics mean very little.
@mcpipita The Naivasha–Kisumu SGR’s original commercial contract was signed on 24 March 2016 under Uhuru, with Ruto as deputy president. Ruto launched construction on 19 March 2026. Contract signing and construction launch are separate milestones.....
@mcpipita Last Mile electricity began under Uhuru’s administration, with Ruto as deputy president. AfDB approved funding on 19 Nov 2014; the loan agreement was signed on 18 Dec 2014. It predates Ruto’s presidency—credit for continuing it is different from credit for starting it.
Affordable housing started under Uhuru in 2017, when Ruto was deputy president. Ruto continued the programme, launched additional projects and introduced a new funding framework through the 2024 Affordable Housing Act.
The original Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit road agreement was signed on 30 September 2020 under Uhuru. That deal was later terminated, and Ruto’s administration pursued a replacement with revised financing and scope.
