Offical page of Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, People of the First Light, has inhabited present day Massachusetts and Eastern Rhode Island for more than 12,000 years.
https://t.co/LulZBZ1X96 Thank you #demlabs for this incredible piece that follows the money and shows who really stands to benefit this Land Grab during the pandemic. Trump has been fighting tribes since the 90's when tribal gaming was approved to help support tribal communities.
This decision not only ignores our history and legal precedent, it ignores the humanity of the Mashpee Wampanoag people.
If Mitch McConnell would bring our Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Reservation Reaffirmation Act up for a vote, we could immediately correct this historic injustice.
In the midst of a pandemic, the Trump Administration chose to expend effort to attempt to disestablish the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s reservation. #IStandwithMashpee and with all of Indian Country. https://t.co/5Z6nZjClAf
I’ve been working with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe & the MA delegation since the Tribe received news that the Trump admin is taking action to disestablish their reservation. I've long been proud to #StandWithMashpee. We'll keep fighting this cruel injustice. The fight's not over.
In the middle of the #coronavirus crisis, the Trump admin disestablished the reservation of the Mashpee Wampanoag—the tribe that welcomed the pilgrims.

In case people forgot, the House passed H.R.375, a bill to ensure the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe keeps its homelands in trust. The Senate has yet to take up the measure. Congress in the past has protected tribal lands-there was even a Supreme Court case about it. #StandWithMashpee
I stand with the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe in their fight to restore lands that belong to them, and I oppose the disgraceful decision by the Trump Administration to disestablish their lands held in trust by the Department of Interior.
