@PineApplesqwq It's a bit disappointing that the series has so many of the important roles for the Baal cycle but never does anything with them... In general they only really use Baal for the Beelzebub connection.
Anat in particular would be a fun character to have in a story role.
@kazumaKaneko666 Ah, that's a surprise! Thank you for sharing. I didn't expect Robert Downey Jr to be in the answer.
I'm sorry if my other question was confusing. I was wondering if Asherah was a late addition to SJ. But I'm glad she got included. She's very popular, it seems!
@kazumaKaneko666 (Actually, on that note, a friend thinks you might've been inspired by this movie, The Fall, for the boregheh mask on Mastema. Was this where you got the idea for it, by any chance? Sorry for asking so much.)
@kazumaKaneko666 I hope this is OK to ask.
Was there a reason the planned demons (Minotaur, Asmodeus, Asterius, Aeshma, Ashur) were changed?
Asherah's inspiration here was 6 months before release, so was an Ashur designed scrapped?
(Incidentally, I love SJ's designs, especially Mastema.)
@kazumaKaneko666 The motifs are something like this, right?
1. Inari statue
2. Festival mask & zashiki-warashi
3. Foxes seducing people?
4. Gods like Dakiniten?
5. Not sure
6. Tamamo no Mae's Sessho-Seki
I like how original designs such as Chefei & Mem Aleph incorporate mythic motifs.
@Turtle_Schelle@_mayaamano The first time you enter Shibahama, a green icon exits the Gouma-den and heads south. If you walk into them, you get this encounter with Ginko and Rei.
@ThanatosPepper_@_mayaamano they also appeared in the mobile game Soul Hackers Intruder
there's only like 50 demons in it and they each have nice little map sprites like Devil Survivor
hopefully G-Mode ports it for that alone
I translated Kazuma Kaneko's feature for the Color Kingdom magazine in 1998.
A new illustration titled 'Visions' was commissioned to show Kaneko's creative process.
