@4N6Associates There are a few other good resources that can obtain these records in just a few days for minimal cost.

@SpencerPI Many firms that I work with now became clients after an attorney went from one firm to another and then called me from the new firm. Works well with paralegals too!
I received my autographed copy of Dean Beers and Karen Beers new book today at the office! I’m super excited to dive into this and grow my knowledge. I’ve known Dean for some years now and always appreciate his friendship and investigative insights.
We are honored to have our "Basic Concepts of Probate Genealogy Due Diligence" article published in the special print edition of NALI's @LEGAL_NALI member magazine The Legal Investigator (TLI). Thanks for including us and your usual great work putting the magazine together.

I get asked a lot about getting copies of military records, and getting copies of DD214 discharge documents.
DD214s
These are the records of discharge, and there may be more than one - for each re-enlistment there is first a discharge. These are often recorded with the county clerk & recorder - and are not public record; and they will not release copies. Instead, the fastest - and free resource - is the Veterans Service Office (VSO) for each county - the C&R can get you this information. You can find the recording listed in a search - it is not viewable, and having this may help speed up the VSO getting a copy. The veteran, or person authorized can get copies - including certified (usually a POA if living; or estate executor / representative, or next-of-kin if deceased); certified is usually needed for benefits, and the full series is needed.

We have an article on this at - https://t.co/Mon41nSFvm
The National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis MO holds these. These are no charge, and also may have restrictions for release - and can be very slow. There are a couple reasonable fee-based services which can process these faster, as they go in-person.
