MARGWANETWORK ANNOUNCEMENT: Tomorrow is my last coverage. The account will be run by @Smugstr moving forward. Let me tell you a story. This account started 5 years ago as an XP token tracker. My idea was that there was a high likelihood there would be XP tokens transferrable to Vanguard, so of course people would be interested in knowing how to maximize their XP tokens. This was also when the COD app was still active, which you could easily get XP tokens from. I then made the switch to zombies news. Didn't really get too much traction at the start - I remember BobNetwork helping with exposure, but nothing really picked up until the MWZ reveal. I think that was when the account first made a little bit of money and also got 10k followers. It was a pretty great feeling. Pretty sure that was almost exactly three years ago. I remember spending maybe 20 hours? With Milo and others on MWZ just trying to grind out the missions while also posting stuff on MNN. Pretty sure we were one of the first people to complete all of the story missions. I think that's how I met ZoneX as well. He sent me some sort of easter egg video and I posted it. Then of course through him I met many other people. Met a lot of people through the account in general. Do I still talk to a lot of those people, including Zone? Not really. Hell, I was heavily active on the COD Discord for probably 3-4 years in my youth, and although I still lurk in some of those circles, I've only really kept in consistent contact with the owner and two other people I met there. I think I mostly just use discord now to text the discord owner, TGR, and Zone, which is frankly shocking to me. I was always pretty shy growing up. Hell, I attribute that to growing up playing video games. I met one of my former best friends (former as in not as close anymore) through the appreciation of games like Little Big Planet. Started playing COD when I was 9 or 10 during Ghost's lifecycle. My only previous exposure to COD was from Little Big Planet, but I was immediately hooked. One of my earliest memories is eating Taco Bell and playing one of the MW3 missions involving a tank, as well as Spec Ops. One of my other earliest memories is going to my cousins house and being confused about how they could play Origins, as I had never even heard of it by that point. Another early memory was watching NoahJ's AW multiplayer gameplay as I ate some sort of homemade snowcone. Playing BO3 custom games on that picnic map with some of my close friends was also pretty fun. Anyways, I kept a pretty close knit group. Started using Discord more around this time. I had been active on the FortniteLeaks discord since like 2017/2018? And eventually got the moniker "Margwa" from there when the "Big Mouth" fortnite outfit released. 14 year old me saw that and it reminded me of a Margwa, so I just started going by that. I think beforehand I had been going by "waffle master" or something. COVID hit a few months later. Got into the COD datamining community and was taught how to datamine and leak. Guy who taught me is super right-wing now or something, haven't checked in years. Leaked a myriad of stuff like FBZ intel, the orda model (which actually got mentioned in the artbook), some weapons, and just a bunch of random bullshit. During this I got invited to a discord server where I met a lot of my online friends who also played COD and Destiny. I also got hit by a cease and desist by Activision. If you're wondering why MNN has never been to COD NEXT, it's because Activision PR still doesn't really like the choices I made when I was 15 years old. Played a lot of Destiny 2 and GTFO. Too much. Neglected so much schoolwork and social interaction because of it. Got super involved with the GTFO community and was one of the first people in the modding community. It was pretty cool. Developed chronic migraines, probably because of my screentime. Moved to online school my sophomore year because of the migraines and also because of Destiny 2. I think I had a relationship end because of that. I don't think I regret it though. Met lots of great people during that time. Met some pretty horrible people. Made some mistakes (e-dating). I still sometimes think about joining them in VC or getting more active in the server we still have, but I don't think that's me anymore. Anyways, at this point I was already involved in GTFO leaks, Fortnite leaks, and COD leaks. Jack of all trades or something. I decided to join the Destiny 2 leaks discord server. The owner recognized me and then made me into a faux owner before giving me admin permissions later on. I'm still listed as the server owner in it. Met a lot of my other friends through the server as well. Started a different server where I would help sherpa people through raids. My entire day would just be getting on Deep Stone Crypt and helping people get through it. I even have a few of my friends from that discord on Instagram. One of them I go to when I need help picking out a new cologne or scent. It was a fun time being active on that server. Another content creator tried doxing me (something that has happened quite a few times) and once I started calling him out on it, he changed his profile picture to some random woman and tried to illicit sympathy. I think he ended up rebranding shortly after. Fun fact: there's a popular Destiny meme called "Zorpalods". Years ago, I decided to use Pastebin to write a fake Destiny leak. I thought it sounded too believable, so I threw in some random shit, including an enemy race called "Zorpalods" that my friend Jaydn came up with in our dms. I published it and somehow rather it started a trend where everyone started posting fake Pastebin leaks. Zorpalod caught on and has been acknowledged by Bungie employees and CMs. During all of this time as well I was heavily into Destiny lore (constantly posted on the subreddit), COD lore (again constantly posted on the subreddit), GTFO lore, etc. I think my personal twitter account started to get traction because I was the first to create a compilation of intel in CWZ. I would post and transcribe each map and update's intel by hand. I think this continued until MWZ when I got bored of it. Pretty sure I tried to bring it back but honestly just kept getting bored. Anyways part three, I started to become more social. Made a lot of new IRL friends. Started getting involved with politics even. Almost ran for election. I was a weird 16/17 year old, but in a good way? Video games started to not be as relevant to me anymore. College started and slowly I kept getting more and more bored with video games. Why play video games when I could be out drinking with my friends? I'd still play the entire day that a map drops and cover the EE, but after that I started losing interest. Didn't really have much time, either. I was at school from the morning until 4-5PM, then I'd have various social activities. I was traveling almost every weekend to compete in sports tournaments. I've been sent out on various research expeditions, which consumed most of my time. It usually kept working out though. Paradox Junction released on the one day that I was home inbetween expeditions and a vacation. Fun fact, I brought my PS4 with me to play Mauer in a hotel room in California the night it released. I remember this was when you could play maps starting at like 9/10PM? And I rushed from Disneyland all the way back to my room. Ordered $200 of room service on accident the next day as I was playing the map. Kowakujo's release was when I fully realized that my time with this account is over. I was abroad hiking volcanoes when ironically it was announced. I was on a tropical island conducting research when the map came out. I didn't play it until a few days ago. Even tomorrow with Rex Infernus, I don't have school yet. I am going to spend the entire day playing the map. Unfortunately, I don't want to. I want to go to work and see my friends and do my schoolwork. I'll probably stop reporting at some point and head over to a party. I've put a lot of time and effort into this account. I've gotten date and hookup rainchecks just because it's conflicted with map releases or easter egg hunts. Moral of my story is that there's more to life than video games. All of this is great, but at some point you have to wake up and smell the roses. Or coffee? Rose-flavored coffee? You can't be chained up in your room forever. There's so many cool experiences that you can have. I don't regret any of this. Sure there's some less-than-ideal memories, but "everything happens for a reason somehow". Wasn't the greatest person. Definitely matured since my start on the fortnite leaks discord. Why am I telling you this? No idea. I don't know why I am pouring my heart out to you. I guess this is my last time to be candid infront of a large audience. After Rex, I'll just go to my personal account and tweet about the lore or something and then call it wraps. I'll tweet about DMZ probably. Eventually I'll stop posting and you will only remember me as that one guy who had eyesight problems. After all, most people forgot that I used to leak stuff. I don't regret doing it, but it's something I frown upon. I just don't like things being spoiled anymore. Leaking in general has gotten too mainstream and now even those who aren't in said communities are getting exposed to it left and right. I can't open up a reddit post about something coming out without someone talking about leaks. It does suck to have been even a small driver in that culture shift where nothing is secret anymore. Anyways. My personal account is @MargwaBot, in case you were wondering. There were lots of other people who I'd consider at least acquaintances helped me throughout this several year journey. Jexeo, Dalek, MZC, Korb, ZestyCodLeaks, Telexion, Hades, NextGen, Xpert, probably a bajillion other people. I've told people my story before and they've always said it doesn't make sense. "Margwa, what do you mean that while you were studying for AP classes and helping with an environmental organization, you also were running a 50k follower call of duty twitter account". I still get that a lot, albeit with various other stuff. Truth is that I don't know. Still doesn't make the most sense to me. I hope it makes sense to you
