Hello Blog! Welcome back. Sorry I've been busy so I haven't been able to post. Been contemplating whether or not I should post these on Youtube, maybe put a face to the name and words. Let me know. Quite a bit has transpired since my last post and we will dive into that along with many other topics including the NFL draft and even some golf. I will put the golf at the end because the fewest people care about golf.
First off, the Celtics- man what happened. Well here's what went wrong: complacency. Went up 3-1 on a very good 76ers team and thought that the exact same practices that got us there would carry us through there. That would be the three ball. Shots just didn't fall after game 4 and that was our flaw. No adjustments. Obviously no Tatum in game 7 hurt but that's no excuse. Mazzulla or the players or the most likely case, both parties, did not contribute to making adjustments. Live by the 3 die by the 3 and they fell hard. Jaylen Brown, such a gifted player, but man was it difficult to watch down the stretch. The ball stopped with him, team ball went completely out the window. Also game 7 lineup was pretty crazy in my opinion. A starting 5 that had only amassed 26 minutes on the floor together all season, in a make or break game?? Tatum looked 80-90% which is great and is an amazing sign for the upcoming season. But there has already been plenty of dialect on their mishaps down the stretch, so where do they go from here? I think it's been made clear- Tatum is the number 1 in Boston going forward. JB did so well in the interim but he showed that a team can't even win one playoff series on his shoulders. Tatum can. He is Boston. There are two real directions they can go. One being trade JB for Giannis. I love JB and everything he has done for Boston but there seems to be some tension which would cause unnecessary off-the-court issues. Giannis is also a top 3-4 player when fully healthy and engaged. If they were to go this route, they could draft some great players at #27 overall. My names, if they went this route would be Bennett Stirtz out of Iowa, Dailyn Swain out of Texas, and Isaiah Evans out of Duke. Players that can run the 1-3 and knock it down, since clearly Joe Mazzulla loves that idea. If they kept JB, they would need to sure up the front court by drafting a big. Some names to watch would be Henri Veesaar out of UNC, Morez Johnson Jr. out of Michigan, Chris Cenac Jr. out of Houston, and Zubi Ejiofor out of St. Johns. Veesaar seems to be the best fit and availability at the #27 spot but I would be happy if they somehow traded up into the lottery for a guy like Aday Mara. So many different ways Brad Stevens can go and I trust him. That's all for now in terms of the Celtics, I'll update more closer to draft season.
Boston Red Sox. Man what is going on. Game 1 looked so incredibly promising. But for that previous statement, I have a rebuttal that can be applied multiple ways. For one, that's why they play 162. For second, that's why they play 162. You can't get too high after one game, but you also can't get too too low after 40. Still plenty of ball left. The issues have been about as bad as they can be. When the pitchers pitch well, the bats are dead. When the hitters hit well... well they haven't been. As I am writing this, they dropped game 1 against the Phillies 2-1 behind a solid appearance from Bello. The pitchers started off cold but have been pitching really well of late. Cleanthony Early, Payton Tolle, Ranger Suarez, and even Bryan Bello have been strong as of late. The bats haven't scored more than 5 runs since April 25th, when they had that fluke 17-run game the day Alex Cora and the whole staff got fired. Roman has been dealing with health issues but he hasn't been playing great. Although his "noodle arm" has been a strength of theirs recently. John Henry and Craig Breslow. Has to be the worst manager-owner tandem in sports, at least baseball. They're so cheap and seem to make every wrong decision (other than the Raffy trade at the moment, who they proceeded to trade away the prospect they got in that trade and he's going off for the Dodgers right now). For some reason, they just can't get it right. A good Sox team would sell out Fenway every day and Jersey sales and concessions would skyrocket. So put your big boy pants on John Henry, and start spending. Like I said before though, plenty of baseball left. This may just be an overreaction and they'll end up winning 90 games.
Patriots/NFL Draft. Not going to comment on this too much but the Mike Vrabel stuff is getting out of hand. Something about Boston coaches and cheating on their wives. Not a good look and we'll see what happens as the season approaches. But until then, I can't really comment anything of substance. The NFL draft as a whole, one that was pretty electrifying and very fun to keep up with. As for the first round, the biggest surprises were Caleb Banks going 18 to Minnesota (go Gators), Ty Simpson going 13 to the Rams, and Kadyn Proctor going 12 to the Dolphins. The rest was kind of as expected in my eyes, other than the Chiefs trading up to get Mansoor Delane at 6 (a guy I thought would still be there at the 12-14 range). The Raiders got their guy, the Jets took a high floor guy in David Bailey, and many other to-be-expected picks happened. The Rams need to win the Super Bowl this year for the Ty Simpson pick to be justified. They could've taken any number of players who would have helped them win now but they decided to spend their first round pick on a build for the future guy. So they better get it done. Although Kadyn Proctor was unexpected for Miami, I like the pick. They have so many needs that a low floor, astronomically high ceiling pick isn't the worst idea. I think Proctor (if he keeps the weight in check and picks up some technique) can be the best tackle from this class, easily. I am a Gators homer so I like the Caleb Banks pick but I see the concerns. He's got the talent to go 18 but he only played 3 games this college football season. To add to that, he broke his foot at the combine. A string of injuries may plague his career, but if not, he will add to a defense that is brilliantly schemed by Vikings DC Brian Flores. And the pick we've all been waiting for, Caleb Lomu at 31 to New England. I like the pick but there are a few things we need to unpack with this. First off, where and when will he play. Will he sit a year behind Morgan Moses on the right side of the line? Will he play guard for a year? Will they move Campbell to guard and have Lomu play left tackle? So many positional things to unpack. But he's a stud. All he needs is a little bit more weight and he's a pro-bowl tackle waiting in the wings. As for the rest of the patriots picks, I think they did a good job. Gabe Jacas is awesome, Eli Raridon is a stud in the pass blocking game, and Karon Prunty has shown flashes of being a good player in the defensive backfield. My steal of the draft: Obviously Jermod Mccoy. The Raiders got a top 10 level talent in the 4th round. The health is obviously concerning, but if Mccoy can battle through that, he will be an amazing corner. He's shown it at multiple levels of college football, whether that be at Oregon St or Tennessee. Other than Mccoy, who was a draft anomaly, I would say Keionte Scott going to the Buccaneers in the 4th round. The cornerback from Miami is very very good and will be a good addition to a weak Tampa Bay defense in a prove-it year for defensive-minded head coach Todd Bowles.
Professional Golf. It has been an interesting time for professional golf. The Saudi Arabian-backed PIF (player investment fund) has withdrawn its funding from the PGA Tour's rival: LIV Golf. This is interesting because it leaves so many players with a difficult road back into professional golf, if they even choose to do that. I won't cover golf much but will highlight some names and results as we head into the second major of the year- the PGA Championship at Aronimink Country Club in Newtown Square, PA. Matt Fitzpatrick and his brother Alex have been on an absolute heater since the Valspar Championship in late March. Matt has won 3 times including the only duo event on tour (the Zurich Classic) which got his brother a two-year exemption onto the PGA. Alex has back-to-back top 10s following that win in New Orleans. Cameron Young has been on fire as well. Scottie Scheffler is Scottie Scheffler and the same is applicable for Rory. It should be a great week as many people look to embed their names in the golf history books forever (Jordan Spieth career slam or Rickie finally getting it done would be storyline of the year in golf). Ryan fox is the absolute man. Great for the game. Home grown swing. Didn’t start playing competitively until after high school. Didn’t make the pga tour until his 30s. Got his first win last year in Canada. What a story. What a guy. What a tournament. Going to be quite the discussion with Scottie’s TIO relief just 48 hours after the Bryson incident. Also Sam Burns is going to get it done… I hope. Can’t keep going into sundays with amazing chances to win then falling flat when it matters most. My two cents on the Bryson situation. I feel that he deserved this penalty, which was unfortunate because I don’t think it was intentional whatsoever. I do, however, feel that this happens way more often to golfers of lesser name value than Bryson. Because those other golfers don’t have their every shot recorded, they do not self-assess those penalties or have those penalties assessed for them. Unfortunate situation all around. I think the way that @GolfChannel talked about him was awful and they painted him in a poor light acting like he isn’t great for the game. I hope he shows up tomorrow and gets those shots back asap. #brysondechambeau #theopen

Hello! I am 3rd year UF student Quannah Redman. Welcome to my sports blog where I talk all things Boston sports and Florida Gators sports (I was trying to make a website but I suck at that and it costs more than X premium). I will usually have a section for each of the main four topics I enjoy: Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, and the Florida Gators. I will have a fifth section that covers general sports news and media going forward. I know people prefer to take in their sports content visually and via podcasts and Youtube videos but writing about sports is more my speed and I hope you enjoy and share with everyone you know to try and make this blog huge. This blog also gets me to read more. This first article will be how all of my favorite teams can improve from their current position and hopes/outlook for their upcoming seasons.

The 18x Champion Boston Celtics:
The Celtics, ranked second in the East as of writing this (March 25th, 2026) tied with the Knicks. The answer is simple, yet complicated. They need to play more team basketball. With Jayson Tatum’s return to the team from his 10 month recovery from his Achilles tear in the second round of the 2025 playoffs, they haven’t seemed to mesh yet. They play too one-dimensional, too isolation dominated basketball. They need to get back to the ball movement and communication that we all saw in the 2024 championship team. Obviously they are without Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford and others due to free agency and trades, but their young guys have stepped up nicely like Baylor Scheierman, Jordan Walsh, Hugo Gonzalez, and others. They need to play more team first offense and defense. And of course, JT just needs to start hitting some shots, which will come with time. No need to panic, I feel that the Celtics are in a great position to make it through the Eastern Conference playoffs against the top teams like Detroit and New York.

The 6x Super Bowl winning Patriots
The Patriots are a hard team to dissect this offseason. They overperformed so greatly this past season, smashing their preseason win total of 8.5 games, winning 17 (including the postseason). But for some reason it feels like the season was mildly unsuccessful. This is mainly because the offense fell very flat to end the postseason. The offensive line performed like club security guards, future superstar quarterback Drake Maye seemed a little lost, and they couldn’t get the ground game going at all. Despite all this, I am uber confident for next season. Let’s recap who they lost since the end of the season. They released star receiver Stefon Diggs due to contract and off the field reasons. They also traded away center Garrett Bradbury which stung for me. I really thought he was a bright spot on an offensive line that definitely had something to prove this past year. Lastly, they also lost edge rusher K’lavon Chaisson, who was one of my personal favorites. They also released defenders Anfernee Jennings and Jahlani Tavai. Jennings hurt to lose because he was the only guy on the defensive line that could consistently rush the passer this past year, in an already weak pass rush. But, they made some great additions. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs was added. The very sure-handed pass catcher will be a great addition to Drake Maye’s arsenal. The three other notable additions include Jets offensive guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, Ravens defensive end Dre’mont Jones, and Bears veteran and former superstar cornerback Kevin Byard III. Dre’mont will hopefully bring some strength and power to this pass rush which certainly needs the help that he will provide. Alijah Vera-Tucker will fill the left guard spot, blocking Drake Maye’s blindside next to second-year tackle Will Campbell, and Jared Wilson likely moving to center. Kevin Byard III will bring a veteran presence and good defensive back play to an already loaded secondary with guys like superstar Christian Gonzales, Carlton Davis, and breakout DB and return-man Marcus Jones. Now that I have covered this, I want to talk about how they can improve. They have some key areas that they can improve in, which can make them serious contenders come next January. Pass rush: they need to make some changes in the pass rush department. Their run defense was towards the top of the league last year, while their pass rush defense was towards the bottom. There aren’t many great edge rushers left in free agency, with the exception of an aging Joey Bosa and a veteran Cameron Jordan who is entering his age 37 season. They could certainly go trade for a for a mid-tier pass rusher and give them a decent contract, but who would that be and what would they give up. The more likely outcome is they target a high upside guy in the draft. My top two names for their 31st pick would be T.J. Parker out of Clemson and Cashius Howell out of Texas A&M. These guys could be day one starters and provide serious impact similar to Nick Emmanwori and James Pearce Jr. (personal issues aside) from this past season. They also couldn’t hurt from help in the receiver room. They have plenty of guys that can make great plays, but they don’t have a true number 1 guy. Romeo Doubs will be a great help with his uncanny ability to hold onto the ball, but besides him, breakout star Kayshon Boutte, and maybe Demario Douglas or Kyle Williams, who will be their pass catchers. The two available guys I see fitting best would be Eagles star A.J. Brown and 49ers Juaun Jennings. They could also target someone with their 31st pick or their second and third round picks. These guys would include KC Concepcion out of Texas A&M, Denzel Boston out of Washington, Omar Cooper Jr. out of Indiana, and the speedster Chris Brazzell II out of Tennessee. The last place they need to improve on is the offensive line. With no premier free agent or draftable offensive lineman besides Francis Mauigoa out of the U, Spencer Fano out of Utah, or Monroe Freeling out of Georgia, I think they just need to take steps from last year. Will Campbell and Jared Wilson had very solid rookie campaigns in the regular season, but something flipped in the playoffs. For Campbell, I think he rushed back to quickly from his mid-season ankle injury and was never the same. I also think Wilson felt the effects of that. If they can both be completely healthy and take the average second year leap that everyone expects out of them, I think they will be in a fine place. Vera-Tucker should help sure up a bit of that left side of the line. Mike Onwenu and Morgan Moses played great on Drake Maye’s right side this past year. Need them to keep it up. I am really hopeful for the rest of this offseason and the 2026-27 season for the Patriots.

The 9x World Series Winning Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox. A team that has been an interesting offseason follow for the past 5 ish years. What to think of them is always the question. I have seen them as high as 95 wins, winning the AL East and as low as 75 wins, 4thin the East. Lets take a look at the good. The pitching. Adding Sonny Gray and Ranger Suarez from St. Louis and Philadelphia, respectively, will be such a great 1, 2 punch to go along with all-world pitcher Garrett Crochet. The young talent. With young guys who have been playing amazing such as gold glove defenders Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela, the Red Sox are poised to be stout in the outfield defensively in 2026. Also, Wilyer was crushing the baseball for team Venezuela in last week’s World Baseball Classic. Then we have the Roman Empire, Mr. Roman Anthony. What more can you say. While he was injured to end 2025 and the Sox playoffs, he picked up right where he left off in the WBC. He already mashes the ball, but he had trouble getting elevation early in 2025. It seems that the elevation issue is all the way gone. He’s going to be a superstar and I just hope the Red Sox don’t do him like Mookie. He is the next Manny or Ted Williams or Carl Yastrzemski. I just wish he could run without bricks in his cleats. To end it off, I like the other offseason acquisitions like infielder Caleb Durbin from Milwaukee and left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe from Baltimore. Now let’s move on to what I didn’t like about this offseason. It’s the same issue as always. John Henry and Fenway Group NEVER spend. How can you be one of the most historic and popular teams in all of sport but not be even a decent attraction for the premier free agents. Had plenty of opportunities to sign elite hitters like Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, Bo Bichette, and even resigning 3rd baseman Alex Bregman. They did none of it. So now we hope that the hitters we have questions with will answer them positively this upcoming season. Another big thing. Trevor Story NEEDS to stay healthy. He’s such an amazing locker room presence and a very solid player. All in all, typical Red Sox offseason leaving many questions coming into the MLB season which actually starts tonight. Baseball is back.

The Esteemed Florida Gators
Football season is still far enough away where I will get more in-depth at a later date. Let’s talk basketball and baseball. Basketball first. What a heartbreaking end to such a promising year. It appeared to be a down year starting 5-4 with losses to Duke, UConn, and worst of all, TCU, and the guard play being very subpar. But boy did they turn it around. Boogie Fland turned into a true old-fashioned slashing point guard who was great from the midrange and could distribute with the best of them. Xaivian Lee started shooting at a very solid clip. The three-headed big man monster of Thomas Haugh, Reuben Chinyelu, and Alex Condon was as advertised. All three players earning SEC Honors including Chinyelu winning defensive player of the year in the SEC and Haugh earning second-team All American Honors. We also saw amazing second-year leaps off the bench from Urban Klavzar and Isaiah Brown. Micah Handlogten was the usual hype man and elite defensive and rebounding big he’s always been. All I have to say is that we had one poor game and it came at the worst time. We seemed out of sorts offensively against a very stout Iowa Hawkeye defense. Lee played well, Haugh played well, Condon played solid, and others just happened to have a rough game. It happens. Super proud of their season and the program Coach Golden has turned the Florida Gators into. This offseason is going to be Golden’s biggest test. Handlogten and Lee are out of eligibility, Haugh, Chinyelu, and Condon will likely test their luck in the NBA draft, and the other guys may transfer. Considering we have 0 high school commitments at the moment; Golden is going to have to go hunting in the portal. We need forwards and centers. Considering the basketball season is nowhere close to being over yet, the portal is pretty quiet at the moment. One early name to look for, though, is 6’10 forward Kwame Evans Jr. from Oregon. Klavzar, and Brown are most likely going to be jumping into larger roles for the 2026-27 season, so I hope they can make the necessary leap. Freshman CJ Ingram showed a lot of promise, and I really hope he stays for next year. Also, Brown’s brother AJ Brown will be back next year, after redshirting this year. Ultimately, I am excited to see what happens in the portal and have no doubt that Coach Golden will reload for next season. Since our basketball season just ended, I haven’t been too tapped in to baseball, but I will be now. My only comments are, Liam Peterson is the truth, and Brendan Lawson rakes. We need to pick the bats up and be more stout defensively. As always, GO GATORS.
