@TheRealSorcus I think it rolling out so widely was probably a bug, but clearly this is intended to be a feature at some point otherwise why would someone have deliberately written that error message into the launcher?
Roblox have hired to such an extent that there are now hundreds of staff members working on it that clearly have no idea how it works.
Absolutely crazy anyone would suggest this as an idea internally
@PE_Spathi Yeah exactly. I think all the super casual games have audiences like this. It's a bit annoying that a game hitting 5k is making the same as one of my obbies with 300 though!
Maybe the real value is in cross referencing metrics with other games and using that in future projects
As an example of how bad the audience of this game is: I thought I'd add a teleport to one of my higher ARPU games to get people playing that.
4,500 players tried out my game through that tp. 95% stayed over 5 mins... ZERO purchases. Insane. I thought my tracking was broken.
I wish this was on a game that wasn't one I threw together in a weekend. It's so kid-friendly that it's entire audience is people who don't have Robux.
If Roblox wants to hire me to juice up those financial reports let me know - a simple algo tweak would make you guys so much
@PE_Spathi So it's notable that when these players go into an obby game they also refuse to pay. The conversion rate and ARPU in the obby is 5x this game & yet not a single player from 4,500 converted when they tried it out.
Roblox has given my new game an audience of brokies!
@PE_Spathi Obbies are fine for me, but my quick game that got to 5k CCU is this and the audience is just abysmal. They have no Robux. Active spenders super low too https://t.co/60YZDAfpFf

Today is my 29th Birthday, and what better way to celebrate than by breaking my all-time (non-event*) CCU record!
My 18th Roblox Birthday is in November too... after all these years - still got it ๐
* Speed Race did reach almost 9k CCU in 2020 but that was because it was in the Egg Hunt and spiked very briefly. Todays record is my highest ever organic CCU on a single game.
@EvanZir This is meaningless for me because I'm still being paid .35 because of the stupid way they calculate it on your personal account (with spent robux etc).
@CrimsonForce_ I just wrote up a reply to the dev forum post about this. It's ridiculous they think they will attract more adult players by forcing games to let them play dress up and put on virtual makeup. They are infantalizing actual adults. It's embarrassing
@CrimsonForce_ It's completely bonkers. If the purpose is to get games to attract older audiences, then it shouldn't matter if my avatar has 6 parts or 15. If more 18+ people play it then Roblox still wins.
Can only assume this requirement is so they pay the 18+ rate to as few as possible.
@Ayristic@BSlickComposer I've been looking for the perfect analogy and I think you've nailed it.
He's upset because the gravy train stopped. People acting like this could happen to any dev are ignoring that it was clearly unintended behaviour and a first-party alternative was always going to kill it.
"this was never just about money. Itโs about watching a business Iโve built for years be damaged overnight"
Firstly. Kinda sounds like it was about money.
Secondly, kinda your problem for building a "business" on collecting transaction fees that Roblox could so easily turn off.
Whilst publicly they've doubled down, they've definitely admitted they were wrong behind the scenes because all of my games just jumped. From 110-135 in a week to 135-385 overnight
Roblox has clarified that a user qualifies as "highly engaged" if they have spent a certain amount of money (exact amount not specified) anywhere on Roblox in the last 60 days.

Also astonishing they never decided to sue the little attention seeker going around causing all the trouble. I would have litigated him into the next century if I was CEO
Do you think they've fired the legal counsel who advised them to not bother fighting these and just immediately settle?
What a spectacularly bad idea that was.
