Round three of #TheMandalorianAndGrogu! I went with a friend who enjoys Star Wars, but hasn’t seen all of The Mandalorian or any of the other series. He really enjoyed the movie! He was particularly impressed with the action and enjoyed the callbacks to the other films. Such a fun time!
This is year is packed with incredible games for XBOX players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI. In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves. We’re excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at XBOX Games Showcase on June 7.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is finally in theaters! Now that you've seen the film, tune into our full spoiler-filled review of the first Star Wars film in almost seven years!
That said, the duo themselves are great. I also loved seeing Zeb and Rotta from Rebels and The Clone Wars. They play larger roles than I assumed. Din Djarin is arguably cooler than he’s ever been. Grogu also gets his moment to shine, and it’s handled well. There’s also a ton of creatures, maybe moreso than any other Star Wars film. The action is great, and the music is phenomenal too. I’m excited to rewatch it on Thursday!
I love #TheMandalorian and I’ve been looking forward to seeing #TheMandalorianAndGrogu on the big screen—but I’ll admit I had a few worries. Was this hitting theaters just because Disney needed a Star Wars movie out? Would it feel like a couple of Disney+ episodes edited into a 132 runtime? Could it actually live up to a theatrical Star Wars release?
After seeing it at an early press screening, I’m happy to say those concerns were mostly put to rest. They took everything I love about the show and leveled it up. The effects, the sets, the sheer number of characters on screen—none of it feels like a streaming production. The budget increase is immediately apparent, and the visual language is strong throughout.
At its core, this is a fun father‑son adventure with Din Djarin and Grogu. It’s not the “biggest” Star Wars film (there are no galaxy‑changing events/twists, massive villain reveals, or Scarif‑scale set pieces), but not every movie needs to be. Sometimes it’s enough to spend time with characters we love. It's more akin to Solo in that respect, but even better. It’s not a perfect film (hard to explain why without spoilers), but it’s an undeniably fun one. I'd give it a solid B+. I really enjoyed it, and am looking forward to seeing it again.

Star Wars is back in theaters after a six-year hiatus—and with the long-awaited continuation of the hit Disney+ series! Join us for a spoiler-free review of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and stay tuned for our full spoiler-filled review this weekend.
What are the film’s biggest flaws? I touched on some of these in my spoiler-free podcast review and plan to spend more time on it in the spoiler one this weekend.
While the film is a fun romp with two beloved characters, Mando and Grogu do not grow or evolve at all. They end the film in pretty much the same place they start.
The story is also very self-contained. It’s wholly separate from what’s come before (helpful for newcomers) but also unlikely to impact the future. This makes the plot feel a bit thin and low stakes. Conflicts are also resolved far too easily.

Just got out of an early press screening of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it feels so good to have Star Wars back in theaters after a six-year hiatus!
They took everything I loved about The Mandalorian and leveled it up — the effects, sets, number of characters on screen, and more. And there's a ton of aliens. It's much bigger than a Disney+ production, even if it doesn't quite reach the scale of most Star Wars theatrical releases (except maybe Solo). That said, it does a phenomenal job giving us a father-son story with characters we love. You don't need to have ever watched the series to enjoy the movie.

@ShieldFan12 I really enjoyed it! Favorite character? That's hard. Rotta is really well done, and of course I love Mando and Grogu. Here's my initial impressions: https://t.co/a75veb4nYn
