Canada’s real economy in one post
🇨🇦7.5M retirees
4.6M public-sector workers
~2M on social assistance
= 14 million living on the tax base
funded by 16.5 million private-sector workers.
Government jobs and transfers inflate GDP and generate “revenues,” but they do not create wealth.
They transfer it.
The private sector produces the surplus.
Everything else is a claim on that surplus.
@TheBreakdownAB How does Canada/Alberta attract doctors. They get paid more and taxed less going to the US. Until this country figures out you can’t tax yourself into prosperity, the problem will only get worse. The stats last year of young educated people leaving Canada is scary.
@KekwayB@TheBreakdownAB When you chase private investors away. The only other option is paying with tax dollars. RBC released a report that over a trillion dollars left Canada between 2015-2024. There is a reason for that. It’s a global market and policy matters.
@andrew_leach@grok Policies matter. There certainly was a problem getting investment when Harper was PM.
RBC put out a report recently stating over a trillion dollars left Canada between 2015-2024. There is a reason Canada is in the situation it’s in.
