@IceRoom1989@loongshih The Japanese thought the same, and were stopped in Korea. Their army grinding to a halt against Ming cannons and cavalry.
If Spain was so strong, they would've just taken the Ottoman Empire, rather than have some Filipino governor coming up with such a unrealistic plan.
@PnishdMythMason@ahjkljl@loongshih The Poles faced what amounted to raiding forces, of comparable number.
The Poles didn't emerge unscathed, having taken several severe defeats, against an enemy that didn't even share a border with them.
@JayStrickland6@loongshih@PnishdMythMason A few thousand conquistadors would be devoured by the warlords, never mind the Manchu.
Larger, better supplied forces than that were swallowed up regularly during the warlord era that came after the collapse of the Ming.
@medievalmlord Wouldn't had worked, solely on the basis of distance. The Spaniards wouldn't be able to bring enough gunpowder, cannons, guns, men and horses.
The attrition from the distance, the lack of supplies, the climate and disease in Southern China, would chew them up.
@JayStrickland6@Mariusj001@PersonaP63812@medievalmlord Capturing Seoul wasn't the winning move though. They still couldn't pacify the Koreans after taking the capital, and it didn't stop Ming intervention from forcing the Japanese to negotiate a peace.
@JayStrickland6@PersonaP63812@medievalmlord Wouldn't work, the Spaniards couldn't exert that sort of strength at that distance, unlike the Manchu who proved themselves the strongest of all the warlords in China during the collapse of the Ming.
The Chinese aren't easily impressed by Europeans, having defeated some earlier.
@AAnonimatvm@loongshih At that distance, against a centralized state with a comparable army, armed with guns and artillery?
Were it so easy, they'd have just conquered the Ottomans already
@JayStrickland6@ahjkljl@loongshih Nobody would side with the Spaniards though.
Even if they landed troops, it would be too few, too poorly supplied, and too poorly equipped, without horses and artillery.
@JayStrickland6@loongshih The Ming collapsed before the Manchu were let in by defectors.
Even then, it took them over 60 years to pacify warlords that were fighting each other as often as they fought the Manchu.
@PnishdMythMason@loongshih Mongols took over 70 years to conquer a divided China, while sharing a border
Manchu took 60 years to conquer a China that already collapsed into squabbling warlords, while also sharing a border
The British were only able to prevail because of the industrial revolution.
@zellieimani There isn't a massive conspiracy to fuck over black people.
Rick Chow case had reasonable doubt
Karmelo Anthony didn't.
It's as simple as that
