“I know what good morals are,
but you're supposed to disregard good morals when you're living in a crazy, bad world. If you're in hell, how can you live like an angel? You're surrounded by devils, trying to be an angel? That's like suicide”.
- Tupac Shakur
There needs to be an understanding that the marketing campaign is the audience's first introduction to the movie, and nothing about Supergirl says, "Family of four, please invite me into your life and spend over $100 on me."
Supergirl herself looks disgusting, like she's some desert lot lizard on her 3rd hangover in 2 days. Girls don't want to imagine themselves looking like trash, boys don't find this look mixed with her cynically aloofness personality attractive, and parents don't want their daughters thinking this what you aspire to be.
Furthermore, the plot and look seems to be a cheap Guardians of the Galaxy reskin. How many times can you spend $100+ on a movie you've already seen in four different variations over the last 12 years?
Then you have Milly Alcock actively alienating the audience by claiming Christian dads are "the right people to piss off" and announcing that Supergirl "swings both ways."
Audience: "How does this sell movie tickets?"
Marketing/ Alcock: "Movie tickets?"
Sure, you can make the case that there is a social media dogpile happening here. You could even argue that rival studios are actively amplifying the backlash. But the biggest indicator that Supergirl is in trouble is its own introduction.
Blame marketing, blame Gunn, blame Alcock, but don’t blame the audience who announces that they refuse to spend their hard-earned money on something that practically screams it's made of garbage juice.
I genuinely don’t understand why so many American shows and movies keep declining in quality like this. How do you spend four seasons building a story and carefully developing characters, only for the fifth season to suddenly feel like it belongs to a completely different series?
The writing took such a bizarre turn, and the characters changed so drastically that it honestly felt disconnected from everything the show had been building since 2019. Nothing about the final season felt true to the story or the characters we had invested in for years.
And Homelander… you created one of the most powerful, complex, and psychologically fascinating characters on television, only to give him an ending like that? I refuse to believe nobody on the production team realized something was seriously wrong while making this season.
The finale genuinely felt like another Game of Thrones situation all over again a once great series collapsing under terrible writing decisions at the end.
Sleep is one of the greatest blessings that many people overlook, and only those deprived of it truly understand its value
so much so that sleep deprivation is considered one of the harshest forms of torture.
And for those who are deprived of this blessing, I can’t help but feel deep sorrow.
