Succeeding today is far harder than it was 50 years ago. Industries were once more stable, and competition was mainly local, allowing time for growth and adaptation. Now, rapid tech advancements, fierce global competition, and fast-paced innovation demand constant learning and adaptation just to stay relevant.
In the past, hard work and basic business skills were often enough for success, with job security more attainable. Today, success requires adaptability, digital skills, and resilience. The pressure to keep up—intensified by social media—adds mental strain, as work and personal life boundaries blur. Achieving success now means being flexible, risk-tolerant, and prepared for constant change.
Things for which there is no substitute:
1. Paying attention to detail.
2. Work. There is no way around this. Just get the work done.
3. Take yourself seriously. If you take yourself seriously, society will get the memo.
4. Be impeccable with your word. If you don't mean it or can't do it, don't say it.
5. Be kind as a default. But if somebody abuses your kindness, don't be shy to be an a**hole. Balance.

When I was growing up there was always that one guy who didn't show up at any of the mid-week practice sessions. He was notoriously absent for practice.
He would just show up on the match day, get fielded by the coach and then score all the goals for the team.
A star!
Some people are just born for it.
A lot of people criticise those who have started something, because there’s comfort where there’s no Responsibility.
The only thing worse than starting something and failing, is not starting something.
JUST START.
