@peterpme On the same painful journey at the moment.
A bunch of animations that used to be smooth are no longer smooth, crashes we can’t reproduce, and cold startup time is a bit worse too.
upgrading to the new react native architecture was the most miserable project of my career
no clear end state. no obvious user facing wins. sometimes worse performance
consumes your best engineers in deep, low level work and nobody outside of the react native bubble cares
i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. good riddance!
🆕 This PR from @nishanbende adds CSS grid support to react native 🙌
Can’t overstate how massive this is for all of us. Future generations will celebrate Nishan Bende Day 🐐

Started migrating a Bare React Native app from 0.72 to (maybe 0.79)? Haven't done one in ages, but this time I'm taking the path of moving up one minor version at the time to make it less painless and keep breaking changes minimal
I have just ONE project open in Cursor and it's consuming 22 gigs of RAM???
I blamed cursor first, but looking at the Activity Monitor paints a better picture. The culprit? next-server with turbo!
Knowing how to navigate effectively across big codebases is a nice skill to have. Even better, knowing how to navigate across multiple repositories with big codebases. AI is already helping a lot with this, but human input is still needed to do it well

Inspired by @o_kwasniewski JSI docs, I put together documentation for the public React Native Android API using Dokka. Super useful!
Do we need iOS next? 👀
https://t.co/I2zYWHt82c
React Native's JSI has no official docs (other than code 😅), so I created them for myself!
Pretty cool what you can achieve with Doxygen given a few C++ files! 📚
React Native 0.77 is now available!

Five years ago, we @Shopify decided to go all-in on @reactnative. Today, we're sharing how it went.
Some highlights:
🔨 Building features just once has been a huge productivity boost
👩💻 Native devs and code are crucial for success
🏎️ RN apps are fast!

Interesting:
Meta created React Native. It’s used (with components at least) in their flagship apps: Facebook (iOS, Android), Instagram (Meta Quest), Messenger (desktop).
Google created Flutter. And yet none of their flagship apps use it (Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Calendar).
I've been learning Kotlin just by contributing to OSS and it has really grown on me. I like it a lot now, even though my knowledge is still somewhat limited.
