Hundreds of thousands of worshippers flood the heart of Paris as Pope Leo XIV celebrates a massive open-air Mass and calls on Catholics to openly share their faith in an "increasingly secularized society."

The Vatican estimates 800,000 people packed the Champs-Élysées and Place de la Concorde, with families lifting children toward the popemobile as the American pope traveled through the French capital.

The setting carries deep history: Place de la Concorde was an execution ground during the French Revolution, where King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette were guillotined.

The enormous gathering comes as France sees a surge in adult conversions, with annual adult baptisms reportedly tripling since 2016 to 13,000 this year.
