Never played @ a pro level, but I've been playing ice hockey 4 over 35 yrs at the highest rec levels and college. The way this play unfolds tells me he absolutely meant 2 make contact w/ Johnson's upper torso w/ his skate/foot. These guys r extremely high level skaters & unless 1 of them is completely caught off guard & upended they know where their skate blades r & have full control of them
