The mug for independent thinkers. "I think, therefore I am." Descartes' famous quote. He transformed math. What are YOU capable of doing? Grab this mug at https://t.co/UIVtGS5V83
Rene' Descartes created the system of ordered pairs to represent points on a plane that changed the world of mathematics...also using letters as variables. "Cognito, ergo sum." I think, therefore I am. This mug is a reminder to just think.

This article promoted by @ascd about how teachers are not helping girls enough is beyond disappointing. Where is the concern about lagging reading scores for boys? Or the fact that 70% of D's and F's are boys? Or pehaps their plummeting college admission rates? They should perhaps celebrate the fact that boys are doing a smidge better. Instead, they suggest we should examine "classroom dynamics and instructional practices to ensure boys aren’t receiving more teacher attention" than girls. Helpful tip: look at self-efficacy research on primary girls on math and science questions. Another tip: look at research on spatial reasoning and how that can be developed in both genders to boost STEM...like playing Tetris.

Teaching Boys: Agree or Disagree?
1. Boys learn better in cool classrooms with bright light.
2. Boys are reluctant to ask for help.
3. When boys win a game, their testosterone increases.
4. Boys learn better in organized classes.
5. Boys just can't sit still.
(All Agree!)
