I'm seeing a lot of discussion about manipulitives usage in math teaching... I wouldn't trade some of the discussions that came from sessions like this one for anything...

Dear Edutwitter. We are starting some lesson study work with teachers. Does anyone have a list of questions teachers might think about when reflecting on a lesson they have taught?
@geoffwake1 @annemathswatson perhaps?! :)
Teaching primary maths - it's sometimes important to just ask what the kids see instead of telling them what to see - even with a seemingly simple image. I have to remind myself of it constantly.
#FrankStella had a protractor series - I'm thinking he should do a number rod series... #cuisenairerods#primarymaths Any other math teachers use Stella to get inspired?
Great meeting with other SW PD providers this morning. Thanks for the wonderfully rich mathematical discussion. @RuthTrundley @booleanmathshub@LearningMaths and for the fabulous cuisinaire maths @helenjwc
When in doubt - pattern blocks out! The "number" fractions are so scary. But when we do this it all makes so much sense. "Mr. Dean?" 'Yes?" "Did I just multiply a fraction?" #primarymaths
@Simon_Gregg Yes, I believe this is only half the group's work. The bigger idea was to work systematically - which I try to stress early in the school year so I can prompt them later when they're stuck. I like revisiting early year things like systems and skepticism.
Working systematically is important - I like to stress to my students that they should KNOW that they've found all the combinations, not THINK they have! #primarymaths
#BCME9panel How do you collaborate with an über defensive colleague, particularly to drive a conceptual curriculum? What's the hook for an obstinate maths teacher?
