@alexrubner I know being trans makes me a freak. It’s why I chose to avoid coming out for years after realising I was. But ultimately my mental health was destroyed by dysphoria and I couldn’t continue as I was. These days I am stealth so I get treated as a normal person.
No, because wanted physical affection is beneficial to children. Teaching them they are also entitled to say no when they feel uncomfortable doesn’t take that away from them but does make them more likely to recognise the violation of rights that occurs when they are sexually abused.
The fact that I'm not attracted to men is proof that I'm not attracted to men. Not that my sexual orientation requires any proof.
It very clearly was sex that was the thing that determined my attraction since finding out he was male instantly ended the attraction despite no issue on my part with the idea of being attracted to a male.
No it doesn't. It's a phrase stolen from intersex activists to describe the physical violence of surgically assigning a sex to a child with ambiguous genitalia. Children who do not have DSDs simply have their sex observed and accurately recorded. It absolutely is not standard medical terminology and is a much contested phrase.
@bennyb082@grannies4equal You said that children should ignore their own boundaries and accept physical contact from others because it will make them happy. I didn't say that hugs were abuse. I said that that had very dangerous implications.
@missinformstion@Roexoxoxoxo Assigned male at birth is pseudoscience. Sex is observed at birth, not assigned, with the exception of intersex children who are surgically operated on to assign them a sex.
Identifies as is meaningless. The truth is that they want to be women, but that doesn't make them women.
@bennyb082@grannies4equal I'm sure my dad considered what he did to me to be 'affection' and that it made him 'happy'. I loved him despite the appalling abuse. I suppose that makes it ok in your book.
I never said people couldn't be attracted to others based on perception. I have met gay men who are attracted to me as a stealth trans man. I said that if they find out my true sex and remain attracted then they aren't gay.
Similarly if I was attracted to a woman and then found out 'she' was actually a man all I would feel was instant revulsion because I am not sexually attracted to men. I once experienced an initial attraction to a very androgenous man I thought was a woman. As soon as he spoke and I realised he was male that attraction disappeared. There was no decision to no longer be attracted to him. I wouldn't be concerned about being bisexual. However, I'm simply not.
@bennyb082@grannies4equal Children should be taught to ignore their instincts and wishes to provide physical contact with another person because it will make them happy? I can't see that going wrong at all.
I don't doubt that people can have transient attraction to someone they perceive as belonging to the sex they are attracted to. But if they remain attracted to a man after finding out he is a man they are not a lesbian. Similarly, gay men may have a passing attraction to me. If they find out I'm female and are still attracted to me then they aren't gay men.
Knowing that someone is a man is not 'abstract knowledge'. It's a fundamental part of who they are.
@missinformstion@Roexoxoxoxo That's a long winded and pseudoscientific way of saying males who want to be females. That's nothing to do with my 'personal journey', it's an accurate reflection of reality.
@Roexoxoxoxo That the fact that people may misperceive you to be female because of the alteration of your body doesn't render you any less male either in the past or at present. I don't doubt your body is different after hormones and surgery. It's still a male body, just a modified one.
@SVPhillimore I don't think anyone is arguing that a hug is a gateway to abuse. They are simply saying children should be taught their right to their own body and about consent.
@bluzoan@bluethirtysix89 No it shows that people stop being attracted to males as soon as they know they are male. Being deceived by a man who pretends to be a woman doesn't change their orientation. It simply makes them a victim of rape by deception.
@missinformstion@Roexoxoxoxo Yes it does. Trans women being males who wish to be female and pursue hormonal and surgical interventions to try and achieve a more female looking body.
If a trans woman has a relationship with someone without revealing male sex then that is rape by deception. It's a disgusting violation of another person's autonomy and rights. Many people would feel outright disgusted and violated to have had sex with a man against their wishes, because sexual orientation is based on sex.
Fortunately not in real life. I've seen photos of them and they do not look like real vaginas. More significantly they are made up of an entirely different tissue type. They lack the type of epithelium lining a vagina that can produce lubrication and they lack the smooth muscle that allows a vagina to expand and lengthen on arousal and contract on orgasm. They neither look nor function the same as a real vagina. They are a surgical orifice created out of an inverted penis or peritoneum or colonic tissue.
