1/ Spend time in almost any secondary school and you will hear the familiar language of urgency:
Year 11.
Results.
Intervention.
Progress 8.
And of course, these things matter.
I've been doing some graph work and these plastic wallets with graph inserts used as MWB have proved invaluable in initial teaching and in checking for understanding.
Much better than getting students to sketch their own axes.
Strong KS3 does not begin in Year 10.
It begins in Year 7, when pupils are given serious texts, serious ideas and serious intellectual attention.
KS3 isn’t the bridge, it’s the foundation.

Check. Adapt.
A useful resource for teachers shared by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF)
Many misunderstand, so pause and fix.
Some are unsure, so adapt support.
Most understand, so extend and support.
Teachers make so many decisions each day, this resource offers helpful advice about what to do & when informed by evidence captured in a lesson.
Thank you, @NCETM, for hosting another great event for the Mastery Maths specialist programme. 24 hours speaking about maths in different contexts and thought-provoking discussions. And some wonderful(ish) jokes @LearningMaths !

@ch_nira@TJWA_Ashford I shall! For context, we currently have two award ceremonies a year, the award is presented to a Year 9 in our Middle school, and a Year 11 or Year 13 student in our Upper School respectively.
It is always a pleasure to present "The Nira Chamberlain" award to one of our extraordinary mathematicians at @TJWA_Ashford Middle School Award Ceremony.
What's new in #LeadershipHandbook 6.0?
Most teachers plan for others and use others' plans.
We need a shared understanding of how to do this well.
