@JamesClear The future doesn’t exist and it is unpredictable, so it's therefore uncertain.
It needs to be created.
You essentially have two choices: create it or let someone else create it.
This 👇 and maybe more important than the actual device measuring actual HR from well the 🫀but the noise that continuous optical readings are compared to an intentional morning HRV session.
@altini_marco …of that reading more important than the overnight readings of continuous like whoop,Apple etc that are frankly just noise to me as an athlete and more so as a coach
@altini_marco So glad to see you post this. 🎯Polar. ashamed to admit I haven’t given a test run of your app. I agree as I performed simultaneous morning readings on multiple apps (SweetBeat, recover faster, ithlete, elite HRV) nearing 3 years with differing stats & must say the intent…
This is why context matters & why elite training Rx can’t be overlayed to all. Intentionally controlled pace for correct adaptive signal is about all that’s necessary. But conversely allows HIIT or strength on opposing days. #harddayshardeasydayseasy
A few stats from the database...
For those with VO2max under 50 ml/kg/min:
* Fat Oxidation peaks at ~4mph (a brisk walk)
* Fat Oxidation already down ~50% at 5.5mph (a jog)
* Fat Oxidation at ZERO by 6.5mph
#JustWalk
Great post by @theplews1 also to mention that recommendations for amateurs vs professionals should differ. Pros have a much higher absolute rate if both fat & carb oxidation as well from individualized testing some athletes carb oxidation rates don’t necessitate the overfueling.
NEW BLOG: Some carbohydrate intake during prolonged higher intensity efforts is important, but what does the physiology and research say about ingestion rates at close to 120 g per hour and the rise of the “Carbolution”? https://t.co/53deQ8pefx (@ProfTimNoakes, @PaulBLaursen)
How you perceive the stress of training matters!
Reflect if it’s cumulative or a release.
And it could be both depending on situation. I know a coach or sports scientists saying “It depends”; how ironic huh!?
One of my favorite tools I learned from athletes I coached:
Let your mind go to a dark place in practice, then see if you can get out of it.
Instead of avoiding the doubts & insecurities, practice going there in a secure environment.
So you are ready on game day.
"Convenience" is no longer convenient if it just doesn't work!
