BREAKING: 187 MPs skipped the Finance Bill 2026 vote.
122 voted YES.
40 voted NO.
187 were absent.
Let that sink in.
More than half of Parliament failed to show up for a vote that will affect taxes, prices, businesses, and millions of Kenyan households.
Yet every month, taxpayers still pay their salaries, allowances, mileage claims, and perks.
Kenyans need the names of all 187 MPs who were absent.
If you can't show up for the Finance Bill, what exactly are taxpayers paying you for?

The rate of caesarean section deliveries in Kenya has climbed to a record 18.25% of all births, more than doubling from 9% a decade ago, a trend that is now straining the financial health of medical insurers.
Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) shows that out of 1.208 million hospital births recorded in 2023, over 220,500 were C-sections, a procedure that typically costs between Ksh 220,000 and Ksh 300,000 at top private hospitals, compared to Ksh 80,000 to Ksh 100,000 for natural deliveries.
This shift has contributed to a sharp rise in medical insurance claims, which jumped from Ksh 20.4 billion five years ago to Ksh 44.62 billion in 2023.
The surge in surgical births is especially prominent in wealthier populations, where the rate reaches 33% compared to just 5% among the poorest, and 19 counties have now surpassed the World Health Organization's 15% upper threshold for medically justified C-sections.
Today, I joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto at State House Nairobi for the historic awarding of a Charter to Uzima University. A proud moment for Kisumu & Nyanza! Grateful to witness this milestone alongside Rt. Hon. @RailaOdinga & Archbishop Emeritus Okoth.
If the MPs are really serious about rejecting the pay rise, they should not just tweet. I believe they can formally write to SRC and reject it officially or table a motion in Parliament to reverse the plans. Anything less is noise and hypocrisy. Leave tweeting to us...
