@mslongpre @realJ_Mitchell Feel free to send me a message. Math teacher who has moved into Spec Ed and I taught GLE20 this sem with a numeracy and thinking classroom focus to give kids a head start when we jump into grade 10 destreamed in sem2.
We need to avoid any messaging that manipulatives are only for those who struggle or "Only if you need them" This stigmitizes mathematical modelling which is critical at ALL levels of learning. Concrete modelling is a critical/integral part of strong mathematical thinking.

Teaching and learning is so tough right now, but things like this make it easier. Courtesy of a Grade 12 student in one of my amazing classes at @chinguacousyss . So happy to be working and learning with this community. #engagemath
@MatthewOldridge I have been using my class sets of 9x12 double sided boards for 7 years. Purchased from US but have held up amazingly despite daily use. https://t.co/5Kh1m5QFPK

Happy #PiApproximationDay! 🥧🎉 Did you know that 22/7 is a really good approximation for π? If you want to be more accurate, you can explore the first 1 MILLION digits on Mathigon. Can you find your phone number or date of birth? https://t.co/hxGHnsy7wy
@Mr_S_Camilleri Hmmm…my guess is that a few too many voters complained and used the whole “2+2=4 is not subjective” rhetoric. Why make these changes and then remove them? Optics, my friend. Really makes it apparent that it was never about bettering the system for kids and families at all.
