@Cdhd123 She has no legal obligation to respond to this guy in English. The same is true in anglo provinces vs. French. I would not expect a cop to go get a translator to respond to me in French elsewhere. The girl was bitchy but if the guy was an ass, it was her way of saying fu.

@Cdhd123 I would NEVER expect to go to BC, Alberta, Sask, Manitoba, Ontario, NS, PEI and NL and be served in French, except for federal employees. I always talk in English in those provinces, and even in the English parts of NB.

However, municipal and provincial police only need to speak the official language of the province vs RCMP

So she does not have to answer to his orders of talking in English..

I am sure that if a crime is done and the criminal only speaks English, she will speak it but she doesn't need to reply to bystanders in English because they bark orders

She is a municipal officier and her work is protected by l'Office de la Langue Française, whether you like it or not. When someone decided to live in Quebec, that is a condition that comes with it.. As native speakers, we have the right to talk
