Les 20 et 21 octobre 2026, les forces aériennes française et britannique ont réalisé leur premier exercice nucléaire conjoint (« Rummy »). Des Rafale français, décollant de Saint-Dizier, ont simulé une frappe nucléaire au-dessus de la Méditerranée, escortés pour la première fois par des Typhoon de la RAF. Aucune arme nucléaire réelle n’a été utilisée.

Cet exercice met en œuvre concrètement la Déclaration de Northwood (signée le 10 juillet 2025 par Macron et Starmer), qui crée un groupe de pilotage nucléaire franco-britannique et prévoit que les deux dissuasions indépendantes « peuvent être coordonnées » face à une menace extrême pour l’Europe. Il s’inscrit dans le renforcement de la coopération face aux tensions avec la Russie, sans constituer une frappe réelle ni une déclaration de guerre.
