I minored in deaf studies so I could take ASL classes while I majored in math. My ASL is rusty, but I always wondered what it would be like & if I'd ever get the chance to teacher math to deaf Ss. Great reflection and read.
🌴 New post from me: Substitute Teaching in the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf.
A very challenging & interesting experience with a couple of key lessons I'll take into every future class I teach.

Not sure where or who I got the idea from but gave Ss about 30 mins to work on their @PlayBlooket ?s, then played Battle Royal to let them check their answers/compete against each othter
Ss LOVED it. Would definitely play that way again

Yesterday during a PD they asked what’s causing you stress & I put in the chat “they keep making us go back to normal and normal wasn’t working”
Today in a meeting my principal asked me what I meant by that. She gave me the chance to say more. So I did.
I just can’t believe there are teachers who don’t round up 69.5-79.5-89.5
I will round up any integer with a 9 at the end of it.
{whispers: I’ve even rounded from the 8s a time or two}
What is it we’re trying to prove by holding a stubborn line??
Testing schedule last week had me in a horrible mood all week. Ended today with an IEP where the parent told me her daughter loves math b/c of my classes & how I make math fun (I've had this S for 2 yrs). This week is looking up 😊 #iteachmath
