@lymanstoneky A basic misunderstanding of how investments work. The Social Security trust fund is held in government bonds. Ergo, the bad logic goes, the SS funds went to fund government spending (ignoring that those bonds are repaid with interest).
@ClaireIsHere0@TheCatholicEngr I've really been enjoying Sunday School, a weekly readings podcast by The Pillar. Always feel like I'm learning something and growing in love for the scriptures.
@Joeinblack I was in a conference with my son's teacher, talking about instilling prayer habits in him, said I may have him pray the Suspice with me every morning. She started tearing up bc her father who had Alzheimer's before he died, would pray it every day even remembering nothing else
@RedsInFour Part of me wonders if it's also overrating 2B positional adjustment. I mean, Matt McLain hitting .194/.293/.345 on the season has a positive WAR. Sure he has great defense, but that batting line is one heck of a hurdle to clear.
@tweetmobb Great thread, Father! I appreciate your recognition that family life comprises both great joy and great suffering and struggle. I can definitely appreciate how being free from material worries lends itself to a priest being able to serve better.
@MarcGoldwein Aren't contributions already taxed? I get a deduction to my earned income when I contribute to a Traditional IRA/401k, making it "pre-tax" $ as opposed to "post-tax" Roth. I get no such deduction of for Social Security taxes withheld. They're already post-tax like a Roth IRA.
@MelbaofNM It's not for every kid and it's not for every parent. Doesn't work for my wife, even as others flourish with it. God made us all different and even more than that being ok, it's a good thing we're not all the same.
