I have called a special meeting of the Emergency Management Cabinet Committee tomorrow to receive an update on our cross-agency response and preparedness.
There are currently no detections of H5 bird flu in South Australia, but we have spent years preparing for this possibility.
Since 2022, we’ve invested $6.8 million to strengthen our response capability, including surveillance, diagnostics, specialised equipment and training exercises.
We’re prepared, we’re coordinated and we’re taking action to help protect our poultry industry, wildlife and community.

On Saturday federal Agriculture Minister Julie Collins said further testing had confirmed the bird had the H5 strain, after a suspected positive result for avian influenza was returned on Friday.

Tim Cook has announced he will step down as CEO of Apple, a position he has held for the past 15 years.
Cook will vacate the position at the head of the global megalith at the end of August, with Apple head of hardware engineering, John Ternus, to take over as CEO from September 1.
