Looking for a fairly easy way to incorporate a bit of math during these days off? Create counting collections! (macaroni, cotton balls, crayons, buttons, etc) Then count! Older siblings could create the bags and lead this activity with little brothers and sisters. #counteveryday
Students @brewsterschools use bar models to find unknowns in Tic Tac Toe. We focused on parts and wholes and representing what we know in a bar model. Students connected which operations they could use depending on what information is given. So proud of their progress! #CPA
4th graders @brewsterschools play Squares while practicing subtraction with regrouping across ten thousands. Regrouping with big numbers can go downhill fast so we practiced color coding our shifts and using cards to focus on each individual place value. #practicethroughplay
@JeniSigmon@brewsterschools @MathCoachCorner Iβm sorry I just saw this! The Multiples cards were found on the Twinkle website. It is a full page but I print four per page and laminate as a little handy multiples chart for on the go!
4th graders @brewsterschools are thinking critically and persevering with area model puzzlers from @MathCoachCorner. A nice twist for multiplication practice that requires thinking outside (or inside!) the box.
End of the year means serious Farkle competitions! Students love this βriskyβ dice game where they get to practice subtracting with regrouping and mental math! @brewsterschools

3rd graders @brewsterschools work on using bar models to find missing parts with totals of 1,000. Using our 10,000 chart they are able to make bar models that are spatially reasonable which helps them to estimate their missing part. These kids have come a long way this year!π₯°
Students @brewsterschools played Tic Tac Toe to find missing addends with totals to 1,000. Students practiced cldrawing bar models, regrouping, using inverse to check their work. #practicethroughplay#visualize
Students @brewsterschools are getting test ready by playing Jeopardy this week. Collaboration and critical thinking at its best! Do-do-do-do-do-do-dooooπ§π€¨
A little fun before spring break! 3rd graders @brewsterschools work on their 7s and plotting points on a graph. I wonder what their mystery picture will be ? π°
Weβve worked so hard on computation skills for March Mathness. Students are now applying these skills and critically thinking to model word problems. Graphic organizers help to visualize understand. @brewsterschools
