Going to an ophthalmology appt after my first night-shift of the week has felt like some bizarre sleep deprivation test - having my eyes forcibly held open whilst bright lights are repeatedly shined into them…and just generally being tested on how well I can see #asuboptimalplan

Day at work started with a patient repeatedly telling me I wasn’t a doctor (great for the imposter syndrome)🧐

Day at work ended by me finding the on-call room I booked in advance and was given a key to, filled with someone else’s stuff (for the 2nd time in as many months)…🥺

Today I have had 1 day off.
Tomorrow I go back to a 12.5hr shift and recommence the same shift pattern.
I’m very very tired.

Today there are 21,915 new cases of Covid, 10,928 in hospital and 327 deaths.

On 21st Sept - the day SAGE called for lockdown - there were 5,594 new cases, 368 in hospital and 28 deaths.
