My favorite line from Atomic Habits has been living in my head rent-free:
“It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don’t want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment.”
If you asked me about my dad, I’d tell you I love him and I miss him more than I have words for. That losing him is the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life. That there isn’t a single day I don’t wish he was still here.
But if you asked me on a deeper level…
i have a friend who treats me so well that she doesn’t even know that she’s established a standard for how i let everyone else treat me, and i think that’s beautiful
