Demand for electricity and grid access is surging as AI and data centres expand. European policymakers must urgently set energy-performance standards and keep their low-carbon transition goals on track, writes @MatsEngstrom

US intelligence helped indict Spain’s former PM the week his successor Sanchez chairs Europe’s anti-Trump front. Coincidence? Enric Juliana in @LaVanguardia today says every European chancellery is asking the same question. https://t.co/6mrLqvaTT4
In the fall of 2022, the intelligence community reportedly assessed that the odds of Russia using tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine had increased to 50% under certain circumstances. This is the story of the Biden administration's response and the lessons for deterrence theory.
My latest for Bloomberg: "We are about to see the Great Clean Energy Acceleration 2.0 – a discontinuity in energy markets as profound as the oil shocks of the 1970s, and one that could bring forward peak fossil fuel use and emissions to this side of 2030." https://t.co/857eRwNea3
Dutch minister for climate policy Stientje van Veldhoven-van der Meer
"We need to ensure competitiveness of our industry, we need to strengthen our strategic resilience in a changing geopolitical environment and avoid the immense cost of inaction if we don't green our economy"
Germany:
He welcomes European preference if it's "excludes bidders controlled by 3rd countries"
On FDI: "We need to remain open, but on strategic areas need to ensure critical dependencies are reduced, resilience strengthened, one-sided tech transfer out of the EU is prevented"
Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Sweden, and Denmark are ready to host French Rafales armed with tactical nukes.
Spain and Italy have ruled it out. Czech PM Babiš joined despite running on a pro-Russian platform. 5/
🫸🏼@BusinessEurope keeps calling for a “stop the clock” and simplification of the #PayTransparency Directive,
but Commissioner @hadjalahbib's stance is crystal clear: no delays, no watering down!
Wartość inwestycji w Ksawerowie sięgnęła 1,5 mld złotych, a zakład zajmuje 110 tys. metrów kwadratowych. Do 2030 roku ma zatrudnić 3000 osób.
Sweden stands in full solidarity with our partner and ally Latvia against Russia’s baseless allegations and unacceptable threats. Recent security challenges in the Baltic region are a direct result of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
