Why is it so hard to do "simple" boring tasks? Your brain is an Interest Engine that runs on dopamine . Boring tasks have zero fuel. You have to add the fuel yourself. This is Dopamine Engineering.
The 5 "Dopamine Fuel Types":
• Interest (find one tiny part that's cool)
• Urgency (set a 10-min timer)
• Novelty (do it in a new place)
• Challenge (gamify it)
• Social (body double with a friend)
Ever feel like your brain is a brilliant, unreliable employee? That’s the Unreliable CEO. Your executive function is a genius... when it decides to show up. Your job isn't to "force" the CEO to work. Your job is to build systems (like the Three-Pile System™) so the company runs even when the CEO is out to lunch.
Traditional productivity is built on The Myth of the Identical Day - the lie that you should have the same output every single Tuesday. It's nonsense. Your energy is a rhythm, not a flat line. You have Productivity Machine days and Brain Soup days. Both are valid.
