No-one has been locked out of anything. Reform and Labour Cllrs will sit on committees in line with proportionality and (I hope) participate in the business of holding the new administration to account.
These people need to stop crying & get on with the job. There is much to do
This is pathetic. Both of these parties made it clear they were not going to work with anyone else.
In the leadership vote Reform's leader came third - even one of his own Cllrs voted against him. @Bobby_Alden came second, including votes from non-Tories

Indeed. I entirely agree that the US should keep their noses out of our problems and we should be able to solve them ourselves. But we can hardly complain, can we, given shit like this?
Labour MPs and Labour supporters are going to be reminded, in a very painful fashion, that Andy Burnham was a great option when he was *unavailable* but a much less impressive one if or when he *does* become available.
Admirable honesty from Majid. As we said at the time, there never was a "deal". Hugely irresponsible of the former leader and many @brumlabour candidates to suggest that there was one and that voting Labour would end the strike.
Everyone wants to see Birmingham’s waste dispute resolved and full services restored for residents as quickly as possible. However, any agreement must be lawful, financially sustainable and unequivocally in the best interests of the city and its taxpayers.
For the avoidance of doubt, the agreement referred to was never considered through the proper governance processes of the City Council. It did not pass through the statutory officers and amounted only to a statement of intent by the former Leader, without the necessary legal or financial scrutiny.
It would not be responsible for the new administration to endorse any arrangement that risks creating further equal pay liabilities for Birmingham taxpayers or that seeks, directly or indirectly, to interfere with or set aside disciplinary proceedings relating to allegations of violent behaviour.
The new administration will no doubt continue to engage constructively with all parties. However, any resolution must be legally robust, financially defensible, fair to workers, fair to residents and fully compliant with the Council’s statutory obligations and fiduciary responsibilities.

Every life matters.
One law. One standard. For everyone.
This is about justice, for Henry, for his family and for all our children. They deserve better.
The most dishonest woman in politics.
She said they would employ 6500 more teachers, there are 1900 fewer.
She is treating the public with total contempt.
STOP PRESS: 43,126 drop in mainstream independent school pupils after VAT introduction, DfE figures reveal
New data from the Department for Education show that pupil numbers in mainstream independent schools, in England, have fallen by 43,126 since the introduction of VAT on school fees - in England.
The decline now exceeds the Government’s projected impact for the whole period to 2031.
This is significantly worse than the figures published this week by the ISC, which, as we noted at the time, did not cover the entire independent school sector.
These figures raise serious questions about the assumptions underpinning the policy and its impact on pupils, families, and schools. When actual losses have already surpassed long-term forecasts, the Government should urgently review both the policy and the evidence on which it was based.
As parents and schools warned, the Government’s forecasts were based on faulty assumptions that did not hold true. It’s time to end this tax. We all want great schools, but this is not the way to achieve that.

@Al_Maari__ This is probably futile but:
They are SELECTIVELY quoting her which, in case you don't realise, means that they are leaving things out therefore distorting the meaning.
I suspect you don't care, but it happens to be the truth.
@cllralexyip was on @bbcmtd in reference to the fire last night Hunters Hill College in Blackwell, near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire.
Alex wants an urgent inquiry into why Hunters Hill school was shut and then allowed to stand empty
BBC were waiting for a response from @BhamCityCouncil.
I’m told they didn’t know if it was Pritchards turn or Harmers turn to give a quote as Leader 😂😂 (Only joking)
