Locals in Belfast have told reporters that the man attacked last night is classed as an extremely vulnerable adult who is severely hard of hearing.

He would not have heard his attacker approaching him.

He never stood a chance.

It is now believed he has lost his vision and will be permanently disfigured for the rest of his life.

Neighbours describe him as well liked and cared for by his entire community because of his vulnerability. A gentle man. A man who wouldn't harm a fly.

And this is who they chose to attack.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family tonight. I cannot imagine what they are going through right now.

This is absolutely devastating. And it is becoming more and more outrageous by the hour.
