3/3 It’s been awesome to see this “Bright” beamline steadily improve and produce significant optical data - we got some good results so stay tuned. Our group has many related projects in the works that I hope to share soon! ☺️
1/3 In March last year, I was fortunate to start a Postdoc in x-ray characterisation 🔦of organic semiconductors 💡. I’ve since completed ~10 beamtimes - I’ve been learning a lot!
2/3 Chris, Xu and I recently completed spectroscopy at the Aus Synchrotron MEX2 beamline (@ANSTO@ausynchrotron )!
We are deeply thankful to the synchrotron staff (esp. Bruce) who make our research possible.
Excellent graphics and data for understanding Australia's energy market, as well as understanding if nuclear has a role. https://t.co/Qcl2o3soZj #auspol
(5/5) That doesn’t imply the localised accomodation impacts general city rental demand and locality to jobs. Here’s an article that has a go a debunking this relationship with financial data. https://t.co/IlTxMrUfBP
(1/5) This morning the “coalition” announced it would go further than “labour” in removing 40K additional international student enrolments. Both parties will hurt AU taxation & our 4th biggest industries. I’m appalled at the unfounded rhetoric victimising international students.
(4/5) The impact of student housing on regular housing is unclear in the context that student accommodation is localised geographically to University proximity. I do agree there are substantial numbers that come from University enrolment (tho 4% of the rental market), but…
@igordownunder Booked an overseas beamtime flight through uni travel agency last year cost $3400 because of their inefficiency and slowness. Booked same flight for myself this year for $1800. Can’t justify it.
Wishing a very happy #NewYear2025 from Bhattacharyya group. We are still looking for a #Postdoc to join our vibrant team to work in the area of #transport in #vdw heterostructures.
Excellent confirmation seminar by @McNeillResearch member Geoffrey (Qizhe) Tang this arvo! Cool to see the advantage electrochemical doping can add to soft matter. Lots of results + an excellent intro to investigating OECT through transport and x-ray scattering techniques!

Honestly - a few of the replies to this little tribute to engineering excellence exhibit a level of stupidity that suggests to me that it won’t be long before our spacecraft are the only thing that remains of our increasingly dim-witted civilisation. Until recently my guess has been that the answer to the Fermi Paradox might be found in biology - complex biological systems are rare. I’m increasingly of the view that the reason for The Great Silence is that civilisations are inevitably crushed by the weight of nobheads shortly after inventing the internet.
Managed well, nuclear power can help a lot. We export uranium, and many other countries use it as a clean energy. We already manage a nuclear reactor (yes, AUS has one 4 medicine and research) very close to Sydney @ANSTO. This is achievable. #auspoł#NucFantasy#NuclearPowerAU
as i was saying from the get go - it was a wrong decision by @AlboMP@AustralianLabor to put Billions into a single company without a product. #quantum https://t.co/OnNNSJqP5h
