As long as your domains are listed on a Marketplace and/or had a for sale lander, there is absolutely no problem in discovery. Even they were not listed, they will search for it on their fav registrar 9/10 times, and a broker will reach out to your if your whois is uptodate,

The end user is not buying because they don't need it, not because they don't know it is for sale for an insane mark up

It will sell for that insane markup only when they need it and seek it out.

I’ve noticed some startups pivot away from markets that feel overly hot because they think the contrarian move is to go somewhere less crowded.

But the real issue is not the market. It is that the team lacks the domain expertise needed to break through.

That quickly turns into negative self talk

The market is too hot. Every competitor is already doing it. There is no margin left. It is not technically possible.

Then an extremely domain specific team enters the same market and figures out every problem the other teams could not solve.

This is why domain expertise or passion matters so much when choosing a startup idea.

when i used to learn a new library or framework i had this urge to come up with an abstraction the moment i hit something i didn't like

this was always wrong. i should have turned off my brain and just focused on absorbing the different way of doing things

when you do that you realize most of it makes sense once you've adjusted

the same thing is happening right now with ai coding. everyone is coming up with some incremental trick or patch for these tools perceived short comings

and they're very proud of them

but now is the time to absorb not fix

One problem with "you shouldn't review the code" is that when I review the code, even with the extremely thorough agentic coding system I have set up, I still regularly find things that should never ever ever ever be shipped, even though it technically works.

I don't know when I will be able to ship sight-unseen, but that time is nowhere near right now.

The way you can tell its distillation is by asking it questions outside of the narrow fields it’s focused on. If you do that you realize Kimi 3 is like 8 months behind the frontier.

Maybe good for some things. But it’s basically a supervised fine tune for coding benchmarks.
