I’m sorry, but to get good at something you have to be bad at it first! You cannot skip that part! And once you get to your idea what “good” is you either realize you’re bad again and improve on that or realize you’re content with where you are.
But it all begins with being bad!
I think people would better be able to talk about Deltarune if they stopped treating Toby's inspirations like prophetic narrative blueprints, and they stopped reading the story so literally and instead tried analyzing the narrative from a thematic and emotional standpoint.
Jokes aside, building up the unbeatable miniboss from the start of the game as something you can't beat by conventional means only to find one effortlessly killed by the antagonist we still know nothing about is perfect writing in making your villain as ominous as possible.
Putting aside the fact that this is how all art is made, two people can make the same basic story and still have them be radically different because art is very much shaped by the creator's idiosyncrasies!
